Ghost face mask Scream 1

Hey guys. Looking to track down a scream 1 ghost face mask. Looking for accuracy but getting overwhelmed with so much information. I have seen the ghostface.uk site which has a TON of information. I am not looking to spend hundreds on a mask. I see all this talk about different stamps and Easter Unlimited Fun World masks. Can someone link me a mask or masks that I should be looking to try to get? From what I gather, for accuracy sake, you want a Fun World mask and anything else is just a knock off or “fake”.

Any help from you ghost face collectors would be great. Just looking for guidance to not overpay or overthink this. Lol. So many options on eBay.

You’re after the Gen 1 Fantastic Faces mask, here’s a video to help out

Thanks for the response but those gen 1, even gen 2 masks look expensive. Listings on eBay for 300+. I would prefer not to spend that much.

well if you want 100% accuracy, that’s the only waay you’ll get it, if you are gonna use it for cosplay, you can just get the ones Funworld sells now

well… the truth is… they are only going to increace in price, and the reason for this is because a circlejerk of morons started inflating the price of these masks just so that they can feel like they are part of a “high class club”, despite the fact that gen 1s were also mass produced and there still being a high quantity of them out there to this day :unamused:

but there is a better auternative, there is a seller on Aliexpress selling “unoficial” EU stamp masks (the same ones used in Scream 3 i believe), ibought my mask from themand the quality of the mask is really good, it’s fairly priced, it just smells a bit due to the glue they use on the eye mesh, but thats fixable, and most importantly, the sculpt of the mask is identical to the original, the working theory is that the factory making these masks were the same that produced the oficial EUs, and now they are just reusing the mold lol

Whichever china factory has that mold, better not stop producing these, cause that’s a beaut!

Thanks for the heads up about the ali mask. For the price and the way it looks I will pick one up. Seems like a steal even though it’s not official.

I have been contemplating and will just have to bite the bullet and find me a gen 1 or 2. My compulsiveness just won’t let up. Lol. I actually prefer the look of the 2, even though it’s not scream 1. I have been doing loads of research and did not realize how many GF masks there really were. There’s a bunch. If anyone has a gen 2 for sale then hit me up via PM.

I was lucky enough to actually purchase mine back in 1997 its fearsome faces gen 1 with a poly hood. I also bought the costume later that year that has a gen 2 poly bib fun world div mask. No idea how many are still out there I’m sure there’s lots that are hiding in peoples storage or some thing and they don’t even realize what they have. I always kept mine in good shape but I never knew they were worth what they are today. But they are seriously hard to find imho.
I think the most accurate for the cheap masks that are out today would be the glow in the dark version. They still go for under 20 bucks and they look more accurate than an ultra white.
You might be able to find an Easter unlimited that isn’t super expensive.
Here’s a few shots of my fearsome faces gen 1

That’s a beauty man. Congrats on buying that and hanging on to it for so long. Gen 1 and 2 are out there you just have to look. Some people have no idea what they even have on eBay. Lol. I see people label stuff gen 1 or 2 and it’s not and visa versa

As someone else said in this thread gen 1’s and gen 2’s are priced so stupidly ridiculous. Scream collectors are just making things harder on themselves and hurting their own wallets a lot more than it should be. Gen 1’s and gen 2’s are popping up all the time and nice ones at that. I mean I won’t say they are just very common but they definitely aren’t uncommon. People started pricing them like one only pops up every few months or so… That is definitely not the case. In the non Halloween seasons they are popping up quite often and in the fall months they are popping up a whole lot. Either way it’s just silly how the pricing goes for some of these Scream masks especially considering the circumstances.

If you don’t care about 100% accuracy and don’t want a modern mask or an aliexpress, go for a HN stamp, this is mine

They sell these all the time on ebay and usually don’t go for more than 100 bucks, and have that vintage “squared eyes” look

For reference here I am with a screen accurate robe and the same mask

You could go a bit further with one of these and reshroud it so the sides of the jaw get covered a bit more, getting that “slim” scream 1 look

That HN does look nice. I’m just a sucker for what was used in the film when it comes to masks and helmets. lol

Another question I have. Can someone explain this to me? As I mentioned before I have been researching a lot and feel like I’m getting a pretty good grasp on GF masks. However, when it comes to Gen 2’s it looks like there are possibly two molds to me but I see nothing mention this. For instance, the first two links appear to be totally different molds than the bottom two links. Are they different or is it just how they’re being photographed? or possibly losing shape over the years?

Here’s a post I stole from facebook that has both side by side.

the thing about the gen 2s looking diferent is more about the sewing job, the mold had some guide lines of where to sew the shroud, and if i remenber correctly, i think it was when they started using poly shrouds (not 100% sure), they started going a bit of those guide lines, making them a bit wider

It’s kind of the opposite, Cotton shroud gen 2s follow the seam guidelines on the mold so they appear to have a smaller jawline, with the poly shroud version, they instead sew them at the extremes of the mold, not following the seams.

Here’s my poly shroud Gen 2 for reference

I consider the seamline the main visual cue to spot if the Gen 2 is a poly shroud and not a cotton shroud or Gen 1 (cause some can do somewhat resemble one)

What is a fun world mask mold cheat sheet, there are so many little variations.

Just a heads up guys. I ended buying one of the Ali Express masks and it’s got the newer EU stamp on it (bottom left in the previous photo). Mine is def not a knock-off. Lol

Someone over there must have old stock or they’re still cranking them out.

thats what i was saying, these “knock offs” use the original mold, thats why there is a very high chance this chinese factory was the same manufacture for the originals
