Good Camera for Costume shots

Hey all, I’m in the market to look for a affordable but good quality camera to take some pics of my Myers costume and masks. Any suggestions?

An entry-level model Canon or Nikon dslr should do the trick.

What is your budget ?

$200-300

iPhone works good. Just not in low light

I bought a canon t6i for YouTube videos and still use my iPhone

Canon PowerShot S110 is what I use for my artsy photos. Does good video too, but you need to use manual focus for videos or else the mic picks up the lens focus sounds.

It’s one of the best compact cameras out there. It has features and photo quality comparable to a DSLR, but with a fixed lens. So no lens swapping as it’s a compact camera. The camera originally was $500, but Its an older camera at this point, so you can find it on eBay usually anywhere from $100 to $200 tops. It also has WiFi for easy transfer to your computer or phone for uploading. It’s a solid camera, has a heavy weight to it for it’s size, and gets great photos. It has a ton of features to work with. You get great quality of the higher end stuff, but the portability to just toss it in your pocket when your on the go and want good quality on a whim.

Don’t settle for the lower end Canons you can find at Walmart, because for a similar price you can get a PowerShot S110 on ebay and it will be worlds better than those.

If you want the more recent version of it, then that would be the Canon G9X. But that is $400+ dollars as it’s the current model.

So that’s my recommendation. Just make sure you pick up a few extra batteries off of Amazon. They are affordable as well.

I would suggest the Canon EOS M100 Mirrorless Digital Camera.

I was in the same shoes as you not long ago looking for affordable but still good option for costume pics and this one came highly recommended from many youtube videos I watched. For the best price on one I’d suggest eBay and buy one slightly used with a low shutter count from a reputable seller. Definitely avoid low feedback sellers as they tend to be scams or sell heavily used items as barely used.

Thank you everyone for the help! I’ll be looking into these soon.

No problem. If you look into the one I mentioned, just know that there is another way older model with a similar name, but it’s an ELPH, and that is not the one you want.

If you type in “Canon PowerShot S110 with WIFI”, the right one will come up.

Here is what it looks like, this is mine here in the photos. These come in silver, black, and white. Like I said they usually run anywhere between $100 and $200 used, on average. They were around $500 new when they came out a few years back. Just be sure to look over the listings so you get one in good shape.

They are solid cameras, so it takes a lot to really beat them up. So you shouldn’t have an issue tracking one down in good shape.

I just like it for it’s versatility, portability, and the quality of what it can do. Just an option for you to keep in mind is all.

All taken with a T2i that is on Amazon right now used for 160.00. Get a good 35mm lens and you will be in business…i have never had luck with the one shots…

Canon are pretty much bulletproof imo. Definitely worth considering

Do you have any pics that you’ve taken with this camera?

I was going to throw a few up for you later today when I get a chance after I get home. So stand by on that.

Here are a handful I took tonight with the Canon PowerShot S110. You can do a wide range of things with this camera, it’s not the usual point and shoot.

The amount of features packed in the camera could get confusing at first, because you can really fine tune every little aspect of anything you can think of.

Again, this camera is geared towards photographers who want pro features in a compact size that fits in your pocket on the go. You can get quality shots on the fly without carrying around a bag of gear. So that’s why I like it.

If your not worried about compact portability, then a full blown DSLR is obviously the better way to go.

And a few more. And all of the photos were taken without using flash, or any special lighting. Just the normal light in the room is all that I had on. So it does great in low light scenarios too.
