Good photos of your tex greens

Originally was planning on doing a dying job but after hearing from some other members and finding out some information I was not aware of before the original post I decided to scrap the idea the way I was approaching it and take a different approach. If anybody’s got any good photos of your tex green coveralls You would be willing to share I would appreciate it. Planning to do a red kap conversion of my own and I’m going to try dying the coveralls to match them as closely as I can. Photos of colors and details of the coveralls are appreciated Thanks

I mean, you’re basing your color match off of a black and white photo that has been colorized. Not the most accurate source.

The photo you’ve chosen was originally black and white and had color put into it artificially after it was taken.

Besides that, trying to match color based off of images is difficult because color shows up differently on each person’s device. Additionally, each pair of authentic coveralls will have slightly different color due to fading.

I went through this dilemma myself.

I chose to buy a pair of vintage Tex greens and call it a day. You can’t get any closer than the real thing.

I own quite a few pairs now. I can confidently say that the color you’ve tried to match in the photo is too green. Tex green is a grey color with some green and a hint of blue.

In these photos, tex is on the left, charcoal in the middle, and navy on the right.

That is why I asked on here first :slightly_smiling_face: Figure if I am going to shoot for this project who better to ask than other fans. Thanks for the input my friend. You stated some good points. I wondered about that photo and whether or not it was artificially colored in because I have never actually seen a color photo taken from scenes in the movie but I thought it was worth a try anyways. I have a clone pair here from creepy customs And I may just use that for reference instead. I love my clones I have the only problem is I’m a little on the heavy side for them so they fit a little too snug lol basically looking to do a recreation myself that I know will fit me right. Looks like I’ll be scrapping this original idea and starting over. Thanks again for the input. Much appreciated my friend

So I just scored these on eBay in my size surprisingly. I know they’re not tex green just because they’re Sears work n leisure But they look pretty damn good in the picture to me. The color listed was green blue and to me in the photo they have more of a charcoal gray tint with maybe a hint of green or blue in them which is pretty close to along the lines of how tex green tends to show its color but I think they look pretty damn good in the photos and the price was right 43 bucks. There’s a guy on there right now trying to sell a weathered charcoal gray set for $775 OBO. I was tempted to make him an offer of 75 bucks but I seen these and was like maybe this will be a worthy by. The last set I got that looked more charcoal gray in the photos turned out to be navy blue so we’ll see but based off the pictures I’m seeing it looks like I got a decent little score here for some 78 coveralls anyways.

Work N Leisure came in Spruce Green, not Tex Green, you could fade them a bit and get a close match, your best bet is to go with Creepy Customs if you want the matching colour though

$75!! That’s a great deal! The colour is definitely close enough in my books too! Congrats

Actually these I only paid 40 bucks for. There was another guy though with a pair just like them on eBay asking $775 for them lol they weren’t even tradewares either. We’ll see how closely the color is when I get them but they’re definitely not tex they’re the wrong year altogether for that but if they look anything in person like they do in the pictures they’re close enough for me.

I do have a pair of the creepy customs with the screen accurate weathering but the zipper busted on me so I got to take it to a local source I know that fixes stuff like that. And yes these are definitely not tex Green by any means. I was looking it up and I think 72 and 73 and 78 maybe was around the years they offered that color and only in the tradeware not the work and leisure but they look pretty damn good in the picture. Just curious how well the picture represents the colors I’m seeing. But for 40 bucks if they look at least like they do in the photo or close to that I’ll be pretty happy with it. Found an old pair on Facebook of tradewares in tex green In my size in Illinois recently but they had already sold for $60. Was pretty bummed to have missed that cuz you can’t find them out there for that price unless you’re lucky

Been trying to find them in size 50R or 52R. They are hard to find in that size. Especially at a decent price

I wish I was still that size too because I’ve actually ran into them in quite a few smaller sizes. I’m just thankful I’m not so fat that I look like a fat Michael Myers lol  But they are most definitely hard to find in a specific size.

So I got my work and leisures today and they are saweeeeet. I’m pretty sure they’re Sears spruce green color but the light does have quite the effect on them. In some light in my house it looks greener and in other light it looks gray-green or light or dark charcoal gray so I’m pretty pumped only paying 40 bucks for them. The two main different features I notice is the rounder pockets and of course the snap button but they fit the bill good enough for me. I have yet to check them side by side to my creepy customs replicas but I’m willing to bet they look damn close based off of what I seen. I’ll post up some pics when I get a chance

Here’s a photo of my creepy customs tex Greens next to my Sears work’n leisure coveralls that I believe to be their spruce green. There’s definitely a noticeable difference between the two but I’m totally digging the new coveralls I got. And they do look different in different lighting and they even come out more of a charcoal gray in the right type of lighting but I’m wondering if anybody on here has any experience with rit dye and if you think it would be worth trying to gray these spruce green coveralls slightly. If anybody’s got any tips let me know. I could live with them just how they are too. To give another frame a reference on the color the stitching on my creepy customs is a green color and these coveralls are a slightly lighter colored green then the stitching on the creepy customs coveralls. Still pretty pumped though this was a nice find any tips or ideas on dying these to try to get closer to tex I’m all ears thanks

shoot if I were you I would make them into a pair of h2’s, here’s a pic of my pair

Yeah honestly that thought crossed my mind too and I figured somebody might suggest that. Personally I wouldn’t mind doing a shot up pair of them with weathering and everything. Have a black pair that I rigged up like h2s and I actually built a wood frame that I clamped them into took them out to the adobe’s on the edge of town and fired six shots through them at close range with a 40 caliber handgun to make the bullet holes and then I stitched in latex zombie flesh prosthetics underneath to show the meat and put a lot of blood around them but when being black the blood didn’t show up as well as I wished it would have. Was a fun project to do though and it looked pretty damn good. I actually got pictures of them unfinished under a thread on here of pictures of people dressed up in their Myers costumes. Never did finish stitching all the prosthetics into it but they look pretty cool not quite sure what I’m going to do with these yet but they are definitely H2 coveralls and I got them at a steal for 40 bucks

I don’t think it would be too hard to tint these a bit with gray. The big thing would be making sure not to tint them too dark. I think with the right amount of gray tint they would pull off a H1 look quite well and then if I added the correct button in place of the snap button that would make them almost perfect. I know the pockets on the tradewares are generally slightly longer and wider I think and a little more squared off on the bottom. Other than that they’re pretty damn close.

I know of a place in Montrose Colorado not far from where I live that could easily take care of the button situation on them. I actually need to take my creepy customs h1s to them to have the zipper replaced on it. They ended up being too tight between the bottom and the shoulders after Connor made them and I tore the zipper trying to get them on the last time I put them on. Thought about putting them up for sale to at least get my money back. I know Connor doesn’t do refunds or replacements on his work according to his Etsy page which is a real bummer but that’s the way it goes sometimes.
