Got Some Jungle Boots (H1)

Hello everyone,

I’m new and I’m working on a Halloween I Myers costume. I recently found and purchased a pair of Rothco Jungle boots with the correct style Vibram soles. Man that particular sole pattern is rare! It was also a challenge to find this particular boot/sole combo in my size (I generally wear a US size 9.5 - 10). To make matters more complicated, I read conflicting stories about these boots running larger AND smaller than expected so it was pretty challenging to decide which size to buy. In the end, I was lucky enough to find a seller on eBay that had a pair in 9R and 10R so I bought both to hedge my bets and felt it would be worthwhile to post my findings and show off the boots.

The size 10R boots fit my feet correctly. With a pair of thick socks, there’s a bit of room in the toe area, but the overall length and snug fit on the sides feel like these would be great for hiking. In their new-old-stock condition, they are a bit stiff, but that will change. So, I’m going to start breaking them in and then I’ll lightly weather them to add a bit of additional character. I want them to feel lived in and worn, but not destroyed or anything too extreme. I’ll use this thread to show my progress as I work on these.

Nice! Good score! They’re SUPER comfortable after they break in, like a boot version of converse all stars. Get a second pair wish I still had my great uncles pair, but I wore them out. Who was the seller? I’d love to snag a new pair! Thanks!

Nice scores… Those are nice! I’ve been wanting to pick up a pair myself for a really long time, LOL… Need to find a pair in my size, and pull the trigger. Congrats, Dana! …ANDY

Looking good man! Still need to grab myself an accurate pair of H1 boots. I usually just wear my Red Wings but they are in no way screen-accurate lol

Breaking them in is going well! I’ve got some nice natural creases occurring in the leather. I’m looking forward to getting over this phase

I think I nabbed the only pairs like these. However, I do still have the identical pair in size 9R that were too small for me if someone here wants them and thinks they might fit.
