H1 Cosplayers: Shoe Lifts for Jungle Boots?

I’m considering suiting up again for another horror con next week. Do any fellow H1 cosplayers here have experience with adding lifts inside of their jungle boots? I feel even an extra inch or two could make a big difference in the cosplay. (I’m 5’7") Anyone have any suggestions for some lifts that will fit comfortably inside of the jungle boot? I’ve got zero experience with lifts in general, but it is my understanding that Warlock wore them for Halloween II, so if it worked for him, I figured I’d look into it.

Never used them. I used to wear logging boots for work years ago that added height. They were very difficult to walk in, could cause pain, messed up my gait, and were murder on my back. Treat your feet and wear what’s comfortable. So what if you’re 5’7”? You don’t need lifts or pain. I’m overweight, but that doesn’t mean I wear a body suit to appear slimmer. No one’s a perfect specimen on this earth, and no one’s ever going to be perfect. Have fun and enjoy yourself in life, stay safe!

Well, there are ways around needing a body suit, ya know. And it’s not like this is something I’d be wearing all the time. But it could help complete “the look.” Last time I suited up, I did overhear some height-related comments from other con-goers. (“There’s Michael. I thought he’d be taller.” “That’s Corey!”)

Who cares about people and their comments? You most likely rocked with your Michael Myers look at that Convention and they were probably just jealous. My weight fluctuates but even at a lower weight, I’ve always been a big dude, built with a strong frame. No matter what, I still pull off a fantastic Leatherface and an awesome Jason Vorhees. Believe it or not, I could even do some badass Michael Myers variants. I may never be as thin as a rail or tall like a glass of water as they say, however, I certainly work with the mojo I’ve got as it’s all about the vibe. I’ve even dressed up as clowns, old ladies, Santa Claus, demons, and various other things, & scared people who claimed they were not afraid of anything or could not be scared. Be comfortable in your own skin even if that’s you wearing a monster mask. Have fun, enjoy, and stay safe!

The comments didn’t make me upset, moreso they just had me thinking some tweaks might be needed. I see some insoles on Amazon for increasing height by 2-3 inches or so, so I may just try it out. I’m a stickler for accuracy. I did post last year’s cosplay on this forum before. Here it is again: (I’ve got a better knife now.)

You look great as Michael Myers! You should try the inserts and see if they work for you. If not, consider trying a different boot altogether, such as one with a built-in heel, like a low profile tactical combat boot or a jet black mechanic style / construction boot like the Caterpillar brand. It might be just what you need. As far as the con-safe prop knife goes, less is more.

Appreciate it. Again, stickler for accuracy, so there’s not much wiggle room with the boots themselves, since the jungle boots are what was worn. And the knife I am currently rocking is a very accurate Case & Sons replica from Horror Express Studios.

Out of curiosity, which Michael Myers mask is that in the photo?

That would be the NAG Castle 75K finished by Freddy Loper.
