H1 Hero correct color

Hi, not sure I wanna do this at the moment, but I’m considering dying my Shape 78’s hair with a darker more accurate color, Although I’d requested a darker color unfortunately Nikos forgot to do that and sent me the mask with his usual ash blonde hair which is not bad per sè especially if you’re in the dark, but under a bright light it has some annoying reddish reflexes which brings the overall look of the mask more towards H2 territory. Do you know some spray brand and color to recommend? I’ll post some pictures if requested. Thanks in advance.

They used black streak n tips spray on the hero’s blonde hair, giving it a combination of blonde, black, and reddish brown highlights.

if you have an airbrush, FW ink or black acrylic paint thinned down a bit works great. Streak n Tips looks great, but it will come off really easy if you handle the mask a lot. if you don’t have an airbrush, get a permanent root touch up spray. The big salon brands have them and you can find them online although they’re expensive.

Actually I have nothing, I’ve never done this before ahah, I don’t mind the idea of trying a temporary color to begin with and see if I like the result first, I’ll have to import the Streak n tips from the US though, it doesn’t seem to be available in Europe, is there something special about it or can it be replaced with any carnival temporary black color spray?

Yeah it’s pretty much the same as any temporary hair color spray you’d find at a halloween/party store. I’ve tried it on a few masks but I stopped using it because it comes off so easy. If you touch the hair at all, it will come off on your hand instantly. Honestly I think a good part of the weathering on the hero in H2 came from the Streak n Tips transferring to the mask from the hair. You can set it with aerosol hairspray, but then the hair will feel different and be locked into place.

With no airbrush, I would definitely recommend the root dye sprays. Spray paints bead up and clump the hair together too much.

Hi, I’ve used this on several masks including and MMK that had the blonde hair like your mask and it worked great and still left the hair somewhat soft. You can get it at pretty much any CVS or Walmart

that explains why hair in H2 is not brown anymore but more light reddish, it came off entirely due to the temporrary paint, that’s the thing I’d really like to avoid, to look like H2  .

By root dye spray you mean permanent dye with ammonia?

yes, this stuff! Although, i’ve only used the permanent kind. There’s temporary and permanent. But root touch up spray is the way to go.

Ok, my GF also explained what the root dye is , Oreal is easily available anywhere in the world so I’ll look for it and let you know, thanks for now

cool man… post pics when you get it sorted!

Thanks I’ll try to look for this specific model

If I cosplayed in dark locations Niko’s stock hair color would be fine, but unfortunately there’s always a very bright light at cons which turns the blonde hair into reddish as you see in H2

Ok the following picture is not the best cause it was taken by a cheap cell phone that enlarges a bit, but you can see the one with natural light really gives the mask an H2 vibe, the other one was darkened with an instagram filter and it already goes back to H1territory a bit, the light was very strong though

i agree that the hair color does look like h2, but the hair style also contributes a bit, that patted down hair with side spikes really reminds me of h2 , the mask is really good looking though, hope you find the spray!

I agree, but at the attempt to create the H1 side spikes it often ends up like that and look more like H2, hairstyle gets messed up pretty easily when you’re at cons, I think I might wanna leave the H1 spikes alone and go for a more simple style.

Look at these, still me, same mask, same day, better pictures and lighting, definitely H1 here

Glad this topic was brought up. Never knew about that root cover up stuff
