H1 Novel Mask.......???

Hey all…
I’m probably much older then most of you and remember certain “Halloween” things as they happened, not years after the fact. That being said, after seeing “Halloween” in the theater in late 1978, and then buying the paperback, and the same with H2, I have a question for all of you. (Or some of you) If you haven’t read the “Halloween” original paperback novel, you should before you set forth your thoughts on this post. In the book, Michael’s mask has some distinctive differences from the film. As worded in the book, it is very creepy and evil looking. In the book, the mask is pale white, has sunken purple eyes, red lips and sewn on black hair. Now before you go thinking of a KISS character, let me elaborate my thoughts.
This isn’t (or doesn’t have to be) a different mask, it is still a Kirk with all of the same facial features. And the sunken purple eyes and red lips don’t need to be blatent. For instance, in alot of the Myers masks being made in our community, weathering is a crucial factor - especially around the inside of the eyes where they are darkened. What if the darkened “weathering” is a slight dark purple instead of dark grey/black? And what if the darkness of the lips is a faded dark red instead of dark grey/black? As for the hair, instead of the normal glued on brown hair, what if it looked like it was sewn on or “plugged” and was black and even a little more straggly? (sticking out in all directions?) I have been envisioning this mask for almost 32 years and I think it would be (if done correctly) one bad-ass Myers collectible. Considering I have never seen anyone doing this, or ever heard of anyone considering this, makes me think that few people in the Myers mask community have ever read the novel because of age (and it’s probably been out of print for decades.) I think, that this mask done correctly, in a limited edition, could be added to some mask makers resume and add one more opportunity for collectors to make a rare collection even rarer.
So mask makers and collectors, what do you think?

I remember reading the book a long time ago, but don’t remember reading everything in the book, as a checked it out when I was Junior High back in the 80’s. I also remember seeing the movie in the late 70’s as I was 7 years old when the movie came out, but I don’t know about making a H1 novel mask, idk just sounds weird, I’m not trying to bash in this thread in any way, it just sounds just weird to me, just my opinion…Dean

I collect quote, unquote “rare” Myers/Kirk pieces, and I can honestly say I would have no interest in purchasing a mask that looks like the novel mask. Limited insenuates more expensive in this hobby and those who would be willing to pay a higher price for a limited & rare piece are seeking something 75 Don Post Kirk accurate and not “theme” oriented. It’s a fun idea, but if you want an angry looking H1 done up novel style, simply repaint and shag up the hair on a Maniac and vwala, there is your novel mask as you described.

Exactly, as I said, the mask is already available. Be it a NAG or Shat or Legendary 75, what ever is your cup of tea. Only the paint and hair would be different. And by limited, it would be just how many of these were done up this way. It doesn’t have to mean a bigger price tag.

I’ve sadly never gotten to read the books. My grandparents/mother/uncle/somebody used to own them both & I skimmed through the first one when I was maybe six or so, but I can only remember maybe a bit of a backstory for young Michael? Either way, I’m sure there are several artists who could tackle this look for you - & if/when you get it done I would love to see pics
