I haven’t seen a topic like this (I’m not sure if there is, so if there is forgive me).
Anyhow, which version of Halloween 2 did you like the best? I LOVE the director’s cut A LOT more than the theatrical. I was satisfied with the theatrical, but now that we have a director’s cut, it shows how much the Weinsteins messed it up by not letting Rob get all the control he needed in the movie. The DC has the better ending with Michael getting shot, Laurie dieing, and the new version of “Love Hurts” playing over it. Its perfect. Also the addition of the extra therapy scene. One of Scout Taylor-Compton’s best performance in the movie. The theatrical on the other hand seemed so…rushed. Its too fast pace. I like how in the DC everything is slower (even though its only 14 minutes longer, it seems a lot longer). And the ending of the theatrical. I don’t hate it, but I don’t like it. Its obviously not what Rob wanted and it doesn’t fit with the movie. For some reason I can’t bring myself to like it. But anyway, which did you like better?
I agree …I love the Directors cut …never seen the Theatrical version but i have seen the ending to it…i like that ending because of how Loomis gets taken out by being stabbed to death appose to his DC death
but i just felt like Michael wasn’t in the movie much 'cept the scenes he was in (which were very few)…and like i have said before what Dr.Loomis was portrayed as was horrible in my eyes Laurie was exactly what i thought a girl in her situation would do and act as and it was fitting that Michael gets the ending he deserves and finally speaks at the ending after being silent for 15 years all in all the DC is my favorite =)
Thought the Director’s cut ending made more sense to me. The whole white hallway at the end was supposed to be laurie’s final thoughts or a heaven thing…and since she got shot in the DC it makes more since rather than her taking Michael’s mask… and the ending i agree DID michael justice, the ending he deserved…does remind me of the alternate ending to H1 a lil
I have not seen the theatrical version but I saw the ending on youtube. I like the DC version better, especially the ending. The only thing I didnt like was when he says “DIE!!!”. I’m all for making michael say a word or two but really? That’s all he could come up with? maybe something a little cooler would have been better like “I’ll see you in hell” as sort of an ode to ressurection. H2 overall is a guilty pleasure of mine. It doesnt fit in with the series, not even his first halloween, but it’s a very well done and crazy horror.
The theatrical cut makes no sense to me. I saw it on Showtime after watching the Director’s Cut. The Theatrical is so poorly edited. There is not one outburst scene with Laurie in it. Her and Annie never argue, Laurie and her shrink never argue. Laurie is seen as stable in the Theatrical. Because of this a lot of scenes make no sense.
Director’s Cut all the way! Theatrical version’s ending made ZERO sense. It actually made me stand up in the theatre and yell obscenitys towards Zombie. The White Hallway scene had no plausible explanation in the Theatrical, while in the DC, it was obvious that it was Laurie’s transition to the afterlife. Also, if it’s a Halloween film, you can’t kill off Michael. You have to leave some way for him to be brought back to satisfy our bloody, gory needs.
I would edit the movie in such a was as to show the hospital nightmare real instead of a nightmare… and have Laurie escaping Michael for the time being and Michael running into the wild. I would leave all and I do mean ALL of the shots with the mother and the horse and the little phantom Michael OUT of the movie. we don´t need to see those visions to either understand Michael. loathe him or even feel sympathy for him. I would also keep Michael Mute in the end, AND if it was really necessary for him to talk to Loomis it would´ve been something like “Wait for me in Hell…”
i´m one of those that became a Michael Fan BECAUSE of Rob Zombie´s version of the story as I really didn’t liked the originals at all, so the RZ movies are top of the list on this particular slasher but since then I learned to appreciate and even love the original 2 movies, however as opposed to the supernatural (allegedly possessed original Michael) Rob’s version is quite more scary to me as I know psychos like his version of Michael DO exist and that makes him quite more terrifying to me…
