H2 tv version COMMENTS

Hey gang,
Just want to give the heads up to anyone wanting to record the H2 tv-edit (with added footage) that Chiller channel is showing HALLOWEEN 2, followed by SEASON OF THE WITCH tonight at 5:00 pm and repeats at 9:00 pm PST.

Thanx for the heads up man, Can you believe I still haven’t seen the T.V Version yet? So needless to say…I’M STOKED!!!

Im so there! Thanks bro

Sweet, I can switch in between the hockey game then.

Thanks for the heads up!

i want an h2 so bad now

thanks…i appreciated

WOW… :open_mouth: , I felt like I was watching a whole different movie, the added scenes were some much more helpful to the story line, The only thing that sucked was they pretty much cut all the killing scenes out. I deff have to pick up the T.V version on DVD, WAY better than the straight up DVD version.

Has the Television cut ever been released on DVD? I could be wrong but I don’t think so…

Ya know…I’m not sure, But I’m hoping it was.

Some sort of extended cut will probably come out eventually. I’m surprised Anchor Bay hasn’t put it out like they did the extended tv version of HALLOWEEN (with the tv scenes added but with nothing cut from the original). It would be cool if they had Rick Rosenthal issue a directors cut. I’d love that.

The H2 tv edit really shuffels some of the sequences around, notably Ben Tramers car crash death coming before the Shape prowling the alley and stealing Mrs. Elrod’s kitchen knife–and Jimmy slipping on the bloody floor (occuring as a reaction to the blast from Loomis’ gas explosion).

The tv edit goes out of its way not to show any onscreen blood. When the Shape steals Mrs. Elrods kitchen knife, instead of showing her finding blood on her cutting board, she turns and sees–a cool lookng 'insert still" close-up of the Shape’s mask looking down at her, and she screams…

Does anyone have a screen cap of that insert they can post here?

It’s basically the tub shot close-up of the shape freeze framed and in reverse
Too bad Anchor Bay doesn’t have the rights to H2 :frowning:

tub scene. thanks. I figured they swiped it from later on in the film (I noticed the lighting in the insert was cooler than the warm lighting in Mrs. Elrod’s kitchen) but I hadn’t had time to figure out where they took it from yet.

They sure did cut out all the killings out. Mrs. Alves, Dr. Mixture, Karen all just disappear without any explanation as to what happened to them in the TV cut. You can assume that The Shape got them, expecially since Jimmy and Jill tell each other they’ve been searching the hospital and can’t find anyone.

Yea, if they could just put the killing scenes back in, that movie would be the bomb!

Yeah they really cut this movie dry. It’s pretty sad, they even went out of their way to cut out the word “ass”. :open_mouth:

yeah. Kids probably watch it on tv now and think all of the re-dubing was just corny scripting/acting.

The thing that gets me is that they edited this cut for tv over 25 years ago and its still being played on cable! I’ve seen some pretty gory sh*t on SyFy and Chiller, stuff way gorier than unedited H2 content. If they cut out the nudity they could probably air H2s theatrical cut without any problems by todays censor standards. They will probably continue playing this tv cut forever to avoid having to pay someone to re-edit it (leaving in the kills) again.

Good points, I have seen a lot of things on regular cable that are worse than some of the kills in H2. I have 2 minds on the tv cut, I like the character development in the scenes that they used to fill the time for the violence that was taken out, but the edit is shoddy, sloppy, and really dated. It really is time to do a RR director cut, it could be edited mixing the tv scenes with the regular cut of the film kind of like the “H1 extended version” which I personally like so much better than the straight theatrical version.

Universal was going to release this version (tv cut)because there was a Theatrical Cut out on dvd (goodtimes)But by the time universal got around to releasing the tv cut of h2 the fans said No because the goodtimes dvd was out of print. So they wanted to release the bare bones Theatrical
version…so we all miss out…this info was on a old horror dvd.vhs and laser disc review website

Yeah. editing on both Theatrical and Tv cut aren’t perfect. I agree with you, between the two sources, they have all the footage they need for a killer Rosenthal directors cut. I hope it happens for us someday… I love the “H1 extended version” too. Its the gem of my horror dvd collection.

That’s really interesting info, and really too bad it didn’t happen.

I was wondering why it is that you NEVER see HALLOWEEN (78) and HALLOWEEN II (81) shown back to back on the cable channels? Generally, even when its a “Halloween” movie marathon, H2 isn’t shown!

It’s always H2 and H3 SEASON OF THE WITCH all the time. Is their some kind of clause that John Carpenter didn’t want H2 tacked on to his classic every time its shown, or is it some problem with Universal?
