H20 Redemption

Just been pondering this. H20 isn’t the best film, but there are still many fans of it. The first act is frowned upon (still love that iceskate kill) but the ending is usually what people say is their favorite part.

Had Resurrection never been created, would H20 be more popular? That movie undid what H20 accomplished and made the final act void. I’m starting to believe H20 would be appreciated much more had H8 never been created and the ending left as was!

H20 is my least favourite entry in the franchise, I even prefer rzh2. I think its a terrible portrayal of michael, I’ve said it before in another thread but to me it always felt more like a copycat killer inspired by michael.

The mask is also my least favourite in the franchise, I’ve always hated that you can see so much of his eyes and really takes away from loomis’s classic line “the blackest eyes, the devils eyes”

And the ending didn’t do it for me with michael seemingly in a vulnerable state reaching out to Laurie with eyes that certainly weren’t black or devilish. And even though it turned out to not be michael, thats not what we were supposed to believe at the time.

Thats just my opinion of course and I know there are plenty of people who love h20 and I completely respect that but the movie just doesn’t do it for me at all

Definitely respect your opinion man! I actually liked the mask but the fact there were 3 including the CGI threw me off a bit. I have a soft spot for the film and really love that iceskate kill but I do agree about the eye visibility. Didn’t like it in Resurrection either. I’m just interested to see if people would like the movie more had Resurrection not undone everything it accomplished. It almost feels like it made H20 void entirely

I would have liked the mask miles more if they didnt show Michael’s eyes, it’s a cool sculpt otherwise.

Exactly! I personally love the design of the Winston mask.

H20 is one of my least favorites in the franchise. I just don’t like the way the movie feels like Scream. I don’t like the orchestra score, and I don’t like the Michael Myers we get in H20. I don’t like the mask for 2 reasons…the visible eyes, and the hair. To top it all off, Michael seems kind of goofy in the movie with the way he walks and moves. The fact that it takes place in California hurts it for me too, because it doesn’t feel like Fall. Really, I think the only saving grace of the movie is Jamie Lee Curtis. I don’t ‘hate’ the movie by any means, but the whole thing just doesn’t feel like a proper ‘Halloween’ movie, it just feels…off. At best, it’s just ‘meh’ for me.

I personally love H20. I don’t see why people bash it so much. I kind of just block Resurrection out. There are a few flaws with H20, but IMO it’s one of the best out of the franchise after H1 & H2.

I really like H2O primarily because it introduced me to this franchise. They missed the mark on a lot of things (like not having it set in Haddonfield) but overall, it’s an enjoyable film.

I’m probably the only one that likes the fact they couldn’t decide on which mask to use LOL! I wish I could get a unfinished copy of the movie and see all the scenes when they used the KNB mask. I think that’s an interesting quirk about the movie…four masks LOL!

I don’t think Resurrection undo’s what they did in H2O because honestly, they didn’t really do anything earth shattering in H2O (other than chop off Michael’s head).

I agree brother and that’s what I mean! I feel by blocking out Resurrection you can really appreciate H20 more. It’s almost like they wanted to kill off H20 with the way they started off H8 but I really enjoy the movie as a whole. I feel people might appreciate it more had the storyline not been undone by the follow-up!

I loved the mask variety too, gave us a lot to look forward to as collectors! I just feel once Resurrection made the masked head somebody else it kinda made the final act of H20 seem ridiculous you know? It makes it not really make sense that some random guy finds Myers mask lol

Yea…I can see that. It is kinda a goofy story line when you think about it. In hindsight, I wish they would have wrote it differently.

Is it just me, or does the Stan Winston mask remind anyone else of a clown mask??? I dunno, I always get this feeling that I’m looking at a clown when I see Myers in this movie. Maybe it’s the spiky, messy hair, the narrow face shape, the big eyes. Maybe i’m just crazy

I get the same vibe  I love the mask but have always thought that the hair and eyesize really reminded me of a clown! I thought I was the crazy one  glad somebody else sees it

That’s too funny!

i loved h20 and is my second favorite halloween movie. same goes for the mask the stan winston mask is my 2nd favorite.
