H4 observation in morph pics

What I never followed with the recasted The Mask theory is that they (DPS The Mask) weren’t mass produced until Neil’s sculpt came out which was an entirely new sculpt (the 1985 version). The odds the original The Mask which was just a recast of the 75 was obtainable by them seems like a stretch to me being that not alot of them were even made. Either way we know the H4 mask has direct lineage to the 75 Kirk because they used either an original Kirk or they used The Mask which was / is just a recast of the original 75. I do think it’s important to note that the 83 / 84 The Mask is tiny – smaller than the mass-produced 1999 DPS Shatner.

Interesting to note and this may help Billy’s theory member Don (Uwannadon) here said he got his original 83 The Mask and when he purchased it back then in 1983 it was advertised as used in Halloween II. It’s likely the film makers were told the same thing if they were given a The Mask to use or were able to buy it making both Billy and the article right. Additionally, it has a short neck which would explain the need for a neck addition like the films mask had.

On one of the commentaries someone says the mask from H2 they had was blue with white hair. Blue with white hair. Blue with white hair. One more time - H2 mask that was blue with white hair. I have never seen a store bought kirk, 83, 84, or 85 The Mask with white hair.
Ken Horne repainted it flesh color (I asked him myself in person when I met him) and you can see it in the school scene pic. It has eyeholes just slightly larger than the kirk, which is how Rob Tharp trimmed them. It also had thick sideburns.
The interview with Ken Horne is on-set during the filming of Halloween 4. The information is fresh, not someones memory from years later. It does not mention any enlarging of masks but it does mention making backups (recasting) and not even having time to get the proper paint to paint them.

As Josh said above, the 83 is significantly smaller than the 99 Shatner small mold (of which I own both masks) such as that when I purchased the 1983 in 83 I was 16 years old probably 5’2" if that and weighed if I can remember just over 100 lbs.
When I ran outside the universal studios gift shop after shelling out $250 for said “actual movie prop mask used in the filming of H2”, the mask was placed on my head extremely tight and I went into a panic when I couldn’t get it off. With help from my friend we managed to pull the mask off resulting in it being inside out, and its been on a wig head ever since.
Its hard for me to imagine any adult wearing this mask.

Ok, question Aaron; what commentary? On Halloween 4? Yes, the interview with Ken was on H4…I bought the mag when it came out.

Hummm…Blue with white hair, blue with white hair…blue with white hair…blue with white hair…blue with white hair.

NEW information from the people who made the masks for Halloween II!
“The Myers mask and Tramer masks Rob made for the 2nd film were definitely pulled from the master mold. At that time, no production molds for Kirk still existed.”
-Cathy Tharp

So, you have a mask that is 25 to 30% percent bigger; because it’s pulled from the master mold. You recast it, you add the neck piece becase the mask is smaller, but not as small as if you recasted a regular 75 Kirk. The eyes do appear different…(Yes, I do have the Tramer BTS shots…)

Now, adjustments were made and you have something like this.

:bulb: I see it. I see it alot more than my theory. I would say, Aaron figured it out.

Hey, Billy even if your are right in everything you have said in this thread and this is as old as the mysterious little BTS/extra shots from H1 you have, it’s still a learning experience and some brand new reading for a hell of a lot of people so don’t come off so pretentious.

… Ok.

Holy crap, Billy! Did you just agree with ME?
It’s whatever release that had the Alan McElroy commentary on it. He says something about having the original H2 mask but can’t understand how somehow the hair must have turned white over the years. Now, being experienced mask collectors (and makers) we know that hair on masks does not change color. Especially not from kirk blond/brown to white. It’s just not possible.
Despite Dick Warlock’s claim that both were destroyed (a claim made years later about something that at the time would have been just another film job in which he didn’t even wear the mask(s) in question) somehow one of the Tramers survived the filming of H2 and made it into Ken Horne’s hands for H4. Then KEN destroyed it. Lol!
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Wow, such a great wealth of information in this thread!

Would love to be able to see these shots, if you’re willing.

Bad ass thread… Carry on.

Agreed!
Not a huge H4 fan, but it’s always nice to refresh the Myers encyclopedia.

I strongly agree as well! Great job Kiazu, as always! :drinkers:

Here’s another morph I did. This time with the H4 Hero today with Josh’s ole '75.
Keep in mind, the H4 brows were added on later according to Pau/Crofader and another set of brows can faintly be seen.

See how they clearly match.
Remains of the origin(75 Kirk/Tramer) can be seen on the H4.

I hardly doubt they went thru the trouble in sculpting kirk eyes after recasting a Don Post 84(Bottom) as I stated before earlier…

Took this really quick to show how small the original The Mask is.

Thanks again Josh.

I can’t get enough of this thread. I literally check it multiple times a day.

My question is if the h4 mask is indeed one of the Tramers from H2 then would it be a safe assumption to say that the eye cuts from the Tramer mask are the same as the H4 mask?

Cool topic for sure. My mask has another set of eyebrows and the ones you see are glued on. Wilbur also told us that he cut the eyes because he couldn’t see. It’s not a mask from H2. Is it a recast from one? Could be.

I meant its origins seem to have come from one of the Tramers and then it was recasted and changed slightly, but I wonder if they changed the shape of the eyes at all
