I hadn’t heard anything until viewing the movie Friday night, but The new theme, the Shape returns, the beginning asylum theme, and the Shape hunts Allyson are my favorites. John is just a goddamned genius!
He really knocked it out of the park with this soundtrack. The Prison Montage is one of my favorite tracks from it, has a really haunting feel to it.
I actually liked the score IN the film than the one released on the OST. I hope a fan ST gets put together, because the official one released doesn’t sound like the one in the film. It sounds like it was produced specifically for the OST, and not directly from the movie itself. I thought Carpenter’s soundtrack for the movie sounded a lot closer to the original 78 soundtrack.
Very glad I pre-ordered the vinyl.
I checked it out on Youtube, and I gotta say there are some great tracks here that really add to the atmosphere, but my favorite is probably “the shape hunts Allison”. I love the synth sound it has, it’s very much classic 80’s John Carpenter stuff, which I love. Has a sort of Christine sound to it as well.
Ray’s Goodbye is actually quite good as well as The Grind. It really is all just top-notch stuff.
It’s quite good. The end theme has too much rock in it and some of it follows the synth wave trend a bit too much in its’ sound (too digital/dance-y sounding), but there are good atmospheric tracks in it. The best score since H6, but I do miss Alan Howarth’s ambient touches, and certain themes were missing like Laurie’s theme. In my opinion the best part of the film.
I actually love the score almost in entirety. That vinyl is something special and while definitely modernized I can’t help but feel nostalgia listening to most of it
i love the new soundtrack, picked up a 1 of 2000 version of the Vinyl to display on the wall
Damn that is pretty. I liked that variant alot. I may just have to grab the soundtrack!
