I get that totally but it still does not excuse basic math. I’m sure even casual fans know that H18 is a sequel to H78. If they don’t then they clearly did not pay any attention to the film. regardless the official name is not Halloween 2 so for common since purposes why don’t we just call it Halloween 3. I don’t know why it gets me going so much
I totally agree with you. But they shouldn’t have called the movie “Halloween” when it was a direct squeal to “Halloween” lol.

I agree! I got into a fuss with a overbarren 52 year old woman on FB over this. She kept saying
it’s number 2.

I don’t know it just drives me nuts, I also got into a debate with somebody about it on FB lol
I’m…not excited about this, honestly. I honestly can’t see how it’s not going to just feel like another “oh nooo laurie and michael meet again! Who will die???” and then neither of them die so they can keep bringing in that cash.
There are many ways one could write it to feel different. Will they do so? Hard to say. One sure fire way to change things up would be having the opening of the film continue on the same night, but Laurie freaks out in the back of that truck and jumps off to return to her home to make sure he’s dead, only to be killed. Not in H8 fashion, but in a much better sensible way that sets up the granddaughter being the main focus of the film going forward. Main focus of the film, but NOT the main focus of Myers.
So after that extended opening, you can then go a year later, have Michael return, but could care less about any of the Strodes, and start stalking randoms around Haddonfield. Perhaps we don’t hear from Allyson Strode through the whole second act, but when she starts to hear rumblings about him being back killing, and possibly her friends are dying, she tries to intervene to save one or more of her friends. But for her, it’s a struggle to even attempt to do so, due to the fear and trauma of the past year.
When she does decide to intervene, she is not necessarily looking for Myers, but trying to just save her friends from dying. Through this, Myers is NOT looking for any Strode women. We may focus on her to experience the trauma and life changes she has gone through since losing Grandma, but Myers is out stalking the town with no concern of those women. Perhaps she loses Mom too along the way, from Mom getting too stupid with heroics.
It can work, but will they write it in a way that makes it feel different like that? Hard to say, we will just have to wait and see. This is just me slapping together a different approach that isn’t the same Laurie vs Michael story, and trying to take it down a different road that keeps the Shape, the Shape, so to speak. It can be done, as long as it is creatively thought out and executed properly.
But it’s Halloween, it could be the return of the man in Black for all we know!! Lol These films tend to go off the rails every time after a soft reboot takes place. Halloween 4 was a soft reboot, then it went off the rails in 5. Then H20, another soft reboot, then off the rails in 8. Rob zombie reboot, then really off the rails in his H2. I don’t know, maybe they prove us wrong this time. Either way, I am looking forward to it.
I wish they would start fresh. Picking up after the previous film. One year later, Michael is still alive, steals a white mask from a Halloween store, and stalks the first group of kids he sees in Haddonfield.
I think the Laurie Stode story has run it’s course. Bringing her back is an obvious cash-grab.
I’d like them to make it a trilogy of h78, h18 and h2020 and I’d like the new one to have a lot more h1 style stalking and to finally kill Michael seeing as hes meant to be human in this universe, maybe have laurie sacrifice herself like loomis did in h2 and finally end the franchise on the high note it deserves
I like the idea of the truck scene, though I think it would be fun if Michael kills them on the truck, like Halloween 4, he could yank off Karen from the side, she ends up getting severely injured but will die, Michael climbs in the bed and then throws Laurie out of the back then Allyson would try to shove him off but h would smash her into the cab, make the truck crash and then it would Kill Allyson last while Michael just gets up and walks back to Haddonfield
If Nick can play Myers the whole time, I’d be happy with whatever they did! If he’s a little out of “shape” he can lose a little weight before filming…it is Hollywood.
Have it set on halloween obviously, a year or a few years later. Myers is like the shark in jaws, he comes back unstoppable but also stealthy like thenoriginal .
