Okay first of all guys, I’m in a terrible mood so sorry if this topic is choppy or misunderstood. I don’t think it will be but just a warning if you don’t understand. I’m wondering if any of you have this mask made by YouTube user TylerHaslett. He’s probably here on the forums as well. I’m gonna admit, I don’t know much about this mask but he sculpted this mask and he ended up selling the mold after some time ande the person he sold the mold to ruined it. So if you ever purchased one of these from him please post pics and shoot me up with a PM because I’m trying to help this guy out and trying to get his mask back up for grabs Thanks guys
Tyler was banned some time ago. There are several other artists who have undertaken this project, and all of them have disappeared. (so it seems) Josh (Starjerk) took 15 members’ $100 (mine included) and bailed, jo, has not been around, and Nils didnt rip anyone off but is involved with life.
tyler is a crook, i brought a saw puppet from him and he gave me the run a round and took off with my money… glad he’s ban from here… as for the clown mask im trying to get my hands on one myself
Freddymyers101,
I am one of the original 3 buyers for the proto that Tyler made, and the mask thats in the youtube video is mine, which i still have.
Tyler did sculpt this ground up, and Jo still has the rights to it now.
I do not think that it is destroyed, but i havent heard from Jo for some time now, i know that he and Tyler had a fall out of some sort.
Im not 100%, but im pretty sure that the cast hasnt been destroyed.
I was having problems getting the finished product with Tyler.
To be straight up, if it hadnt been for Jo, and given with Tyler’s business practices, i might had never gotten the mask without Jo’s help.
I live far away from both of them, but Jo lived much closer, hours away though.
I will try to email Jo and see what he knows about all of this and make light of it for you.
I know there were a lot of buyers for this piece, and Jo hasnt been around in some time.
Last time I talked to him was several months back, and he had 3 jobs as well, so he was very busy.
He might have given it a break, but could have let some people know he was hanging it up for awhile because this was a demanded piece.
Jo is an awesome guy, maybe he had some problems in the mix, but i have done deals with him, and he has been a good businessman and friend to me.
I however have not done a deal with Tyler since.
Hope this helps you out
i am still around and always am, just been making other masks like the “escape” masks lately.
Thank you Zach for directing me to this topic.
now as far as the Clown mask goes…
tyler sculpted it for me with a tad bit of direction from me and with his skills as an artist.
the mold IS NOT RUINED and i still make copies of the mask when people contact me for one.
the reason why i don’t take orders left and right with these masks (or any of my masks) is because
i am a busy person and i have seen way to many people fall into the trap of not being able to keep up with orders.
then, one thing leads to another, people begin to worry, the trash talk starts and then, the artist usually
bails or sticks in there and ends up oweing people even more because of the time frame.
so, to keep myself from falling into any of these traps and to give myself time to work on other things
i sit back and if an order comes in from word of mouth i will take the order and fulfill it.
not sure why tyler is/was talking trash on me but, we were friends and i haven’t talked to him in along time
so, maybe that is/was my fault?
and “FREDDYMYERS101” please don’t talk about recasting my mask
the mask can not be vaccum-formed anyways unless you do it without the nose and add
the nose back on as a seperate piece.
“SPOILER”
i have been getting ready also, for a show in which my buddy is doing a comic for John Carpenter
which he will be at. so, i get to chill with Carpenter and i plan on having a signature series with carpenter
on this mask as i did with Will Sandin. I have the 10 masks made. all i have to do is trim and paint them.
i’ll post a pic of them tomorrow when i get home on this topic.
on a side note: i am working on a little site to showcase some of the new masks, etc. i have going on and would need help painting some stuff if anyone is interested and would like to make some money while getting to be artistic just contact me.
i answer all PM’s and e-mails.
The only reason I was even thinking about it because it’s the only 1978 Young Michael Myers clown mask and I though the mold was destroyed. It wouldn’t be recasting it really. There would be no reconstruction of it’s features if someone vaccum-formed it. But I’m not going to try and recast your mask. I wasn’t going to do it if it was going to happen. I was just trying to bring the mask back to life. That was my intention in posting this topic.
i was only playing with you…well, maybe 1/2 serious
and YES it would be RECASTING the mask.
to do “reconstruction” on the mask and it’s features would be RETOOLING.
but, now you know the mask is still alive and kicking.
**_I bought a couple of the clown masks from Jo and I can vouch for him too, no problems with the transaction whatsoever! In fact he’s currently doing a special side project for me as I type this.
Here’s a pic of mine, complete with a bust, wig, collar and (torso only) Little Mikey clown suit:
My 78 clown mask is still sitting here blank because I feel I will never be able to recreate the pristine paintjobs that Josh does. I’ve seen them in person and it almost looks like they were done by machine
Thanks for the news, Josh. Can’t wait to see what you got planned.
