HalloweeN 1978 knife revelation/observation. Anyone else?!

So, I was researching some stuff related to Halloween (1978) and came across this. Not sure if anyone else has noticed it, or if anyone agrees.
I am convinced that young Michael’s knife from the opening sequence is the same one used in the living room scene with Laurie and Michael. I’m sure it was used in other scenes too, but these are the only ones I have looked into.

This is the scene, and knife, that I am referencing. I have also provided a series of images morphing the knives into one. Would love to hear some opinions!!!

Have a great night!

Hmmm… interesting.

I mean theres no way to tell for sure, but the knives are definitely similar.

It definitely wasn’t a Lamson or a Dexter in that scene. I think you are right. It’s the same knife as the begginning. I need to watch Halloween 1 again!

Really makes me wonder, how many different knives did they use for the film? It looks so different in some scenes that it is hard to tell. I busted out my blu ray copy last night, that’s the only reason I caught this! After seeing it so many times all there is left to do is pick at the tiny details .

But the weathering spots don’t match.

Some do if you watch for them, but the one that do appear to change could be explained by the change of light source. With the light shining directly on the knife (during young Michael’s scene) you can see nearly every imperfection. In the living room scene, the knife is shrouded by a shadow, making any imperfections nearly impossible to make out. I’m gonna try to dig for more photos of the living room scene where you can clearly see the knife.

Could be. Since I do see some spots that match. But the handle looks identical.

Just popped in H1 and took some pics. Check it out. Same scratches on the blade. I am convinced that it is the same knife.

Yep, definitely the same knife!

I also paused at Laurie’s shoulder stab scene and was able to match the knife AGAIN because of handle shape, as seen in the last close up photo. This, along with the stamp on the blade leads me to believe that it is the same knife. I’ve circled the blade stamps in red. Once in the shoulder stab scene, and once in the living room scene.

Pretty good observation you made bro  I myself was unaware of this until you posted it

Great catch, and great post! I buy and restore a lot of chef knives and the handle of the knife in H1 is very similar to a Clyde.

This is a 14 inch Clyde I have restored. The handle shape is very similar.

Thanks guys! Glad I could contribute something new as apposed to the same recycled threads that come up .Now if only we could find this dang knife!

Wow! That handle is very similar. Very well could be a Clyde. Does it have a stamp on the blade of some sort?

No. No markings on the blade

Darn :frowning:. Oh well, I’m sure someone will find the correct knife with time. Who knows, maybe it was some special edition of a Clyde.

The rivets in those screen caps look huge. Way bigger than the standard size rivets on alot of knives. Maybe my eyes are messed up or camera trickery is making them look huge?? In some of those screen caps it looks like there is only a 1/8"-3/16" of wood handle left on each side of the rivet. What rivet size do you think those are?? I use 5/16" rivet width on my knives and those look tiny compared to those…

I know. I have always thought that they look larger than normal. As for what size, I have not the slightest clue. I believe they may look so large because of the light. If the light hit is just right, it could cause a large glare. Not sure. I did however just stumble upon this thread, and now I’m really wondering if this member has THE knife identified in these scenes. Here’s a link.

The rivets on that knife are spot on, hands down. It could even be a Clyde, with huge rivets. Old chef knives like this had character. None were IDENTICAL. This is an awesome find!
