Halloween (1978) The Scene where Michael's mask comes off.

For some reason a scene that has really stayed with me since my first viewing of Halloween has been the scene where Laurie removes Michael’s mask and he pulls it back on. I don’t know if it’s the sound of the mask, just how perfectly the mask is pulled down or the whole thing but each time I watch Halloween I have to watch that part over and over again. Any one else just absolutely love that part?

I found it interesting for another reason…we see Michaels ugly mush
as a kid that stood out to me to get to see what the boogeyman looked like underneath
the mask.

Was definitely a memorable scene. Always wondered why they cut it out of H2?

you’re saying that scene triggers your ASMR??

Always wondered why there wasn’t blood on or around his eye…? He just got a hanger poked in it lol!
Should have been bleeding.

Haha yeh. A stabbing wound like that to the eye would have caused pretty good bleeding. Guess they felt it was unnecessary.

… He actually is wearing a SP/FX Prosthetic on his eye. You just cant see it very well.
You call yourself fans? Pay attention

I think it was a weird move to pull the mask off like Laurie did,why did she do that ? was it just so she could see who was under the mask ? why not kick/knee him in the balls or a neck chop even or…well you get the idea…anyway that move worked because it broke Michael’s concentration on strangling the sh!t out of her :smiling_imp:

Why hasn’t anyone made a Tony Moran bust already?

I second that notion in regards to the moran bust, but what I love about that scene is it really shows how thin that kirk really is

Very good points guys…This is what I love about this forum.
I dont know about you, but when I first watched it (ahhh good times  ) I was wondering who was under that mask the whole time. This scene answered my question…and the fact he was just a normal guy like me and you made it even more frightening.

I used to pause that scene as a kid just as we see his face for those brief few moments hit pause, the weird looking eye always stayed in my mind,i must have only been like 9 or so at the time :bulb: yeah it’s great to talk about things like this with like minded folk.

This is actually my fav scene in the whole movie. I was actually expecting a deformed demon but he just looked like a freak :open_mouth:

Deffo one of my fav scenes in the movie also. Don’t know whether it was the tension or the lighting but that face looked completely demented and robotic to me. I’m really glad they decided to unmask him even if it was just for a few seconds.
It reminded me of when a younger michael had his clown mask pulled off and his face was just blank and devoid of anything, it was kinda like the beast become complete when the mask was on.

I’m gonna be the odd one out and say it isn’t my fave seen by far, I prefer the mask on and Mikey doing his thing. It was interesting to see under the mask and what he looked like, but I preferred the whole mystery of what was behind the mask, the not knowing.

i wonder whos been cuttin michaels hair all those years

You know he kinda looks like David Hasselhoff.

…yeah demented and robotic

The Hoff strikes again! lol

Notice how greasy his hair was? Moran put Vaseline in his hair to make it easier for Jamie Lee to take it off of him. And if it was indeed a “Stunt” mask???
