Hi guys so I was out working in the garage and decided to take a little lunch break while watching H2.
Some questions I immediately remembered having about this sequel popped up so decided to start this thread.
Why didn’t they stick with the blue eerie overall feel/look that H1 had? This is more warm and a lot of contrast
Why don’t they show Michael’s face when the end of H1 is used at the beginning when Laurie unmasks him? I imagine they would have had to pay the actor even though he wasn’t in the movie? Or some other reason
Why did they reshoot the scene where he falls off the balcony and use grass on the lawn as oppose to just dirt like first movie?
Why was the theme music tweaked to a more muffled sounding version? Has an over all different tone to it
Dean cundey who did the lighting for H1 returned for lighting on H2. My guess why its different may be because its in a dark hospital, which is white of course, so the darkness adds to the creepiness. Whereas lots of the blue lighting in H1 was outside at night, which makes sense if you think about it so I’d say blue lighting wouldn’t work as well for a hospital. 2. I noticed that too, but have no idea why they didn’t show his face. 3. A bit of trivia, in H1 Michael falls off the balcony on the back of the house with the roof over it and lands in the backyard which is just dirt, while in H2 its on the front balcony so he lands in the front yard which is grass. I have no idea why they changed it though. 4. John carpenter basically went to Alan howarth who did the music for H2 and John told him to update the score from H1 with synthesizers to give it a darker, almost gothic feel. Personally, I prefer the H1 piano score, but I don’t really mind the H2 synthesizer score. Another bit of trivia, Alan Howarth said he was basically layering the sound of his synthesizer score over Johns piano score from H1.
Maybe they changed the balcony from the back of the house to the front so when Dr. Loomis comes outside to check he has the encounter with the neighbor.
They probably didn’t want to have to pay Tony Moran again so they didn’t show his face.
When they show the end of H1 at the beginning of H2, most likely due to an editing mistake, Loomis shoots Michael 7 times instead of the 6 times he shot him in H1. He still says he shot him 6 times and it looks like his gun only holds 6 bullets so 7 times is wierd.
You know, thats a good point about them changing the balcony so loomis could talk to the neighbor. Speaking of which, I recently read the novel of H1 from 1978, and at the end loomis actually has the exact same encounter with the neighbor as he does in the H2 intro. Im pretty sure the H1 novel was out way before H2 was even thought of, so maybe H2 took that from the book?
