I haven’t seen the 2007 Rob Zombie Halloween (2007) remake yet.
What’s the better version to see, Theatrical or Unrated?

Unrated, but it’s a win win situation. JUST WATCH IT!!!
I am in full agreement with Myerssssss1 on this!
The unrated version has more dialogue, and more Michael/Loomis interaction from Michael’s time in the sanitarium which I find exceptionally interesting. However, the reason that I prefer the theatrical version is that the unrated edition’s escape scene is unconscionably disgusting and very unnecessary. Honestly, my best suggestion is to watch both and decide for yourself.
I’d go with the theatrical version first and then watch the unrated version. The escape scene in the theatrical version is 100x better than the escape in the unrated version.
Theatrical…also, do yourself a favor and watch the theatrical version of H2 once you finish this one.
I actually prefer the workprint aside from the highly unnecessary rape scene. The ending was much better, but likely not used because there was no room for a sequel with it.
I totally agree! Unrated, but u should watch both!
Unrated Director’s Cut.
The work print (sans the rape scene) wins easily.
I got my hands on a copy of the Unrated version. Hopefully I’ll like it.
Unrated version was surprisingly boring so I sold it. Theatrical version was better although the escape scene is ridiculous.
As others have said, the escape scene in the unrated is uncalled for. It’s very brutal. However, i think it was possibly done so that you actually cheer for Michael and want him to kill. I have only watched the unrated so i will have to try and watch the theatrical to compare the two.
I think you can find the full theatrical escape scene on YouTube, if you want to compare.
My vote goes to the theatrical version. I hated the rape scene of the unrated cut and the positioning of Michael as the hero of the situation. Just stupid. Neverminding that, I also prefer the theatrical version because RZ brings more of his buddies from The Devil’s Rejects back for some cameos. When I want to watch RZ’s Halloween (which is becoming more and more rare these days), can’t miss Bill Moseley’s “Trick-or-treat, Baby!”
I’ve just recently watched the workprint of Halloween (2007) and I have to say, it’s my favourite version of the film. There seem to be a few more “stalking” scenes which were obviously removed for one or other reason. Actually I was always a little confused about the theatrical and unrated cuts because the unrated cut was what was sold here on the shelf without actually saying anywhere on the DVD box “unrated” so I just assumed it was the theatrical cut I was watching. You see, we don’t often find director’s cuts or unrated versions in stores here in South Africa. I ordered what I thought would be the unrated version online a little later (the 2-disc set) and instead received the theatrical cut! I think the store must’ve have gotten my order mixed up or something but in the end it worked out fine for me because I now have both cuts. Still, as I mentioned earlier, my first choice now would be the workprint of the film. I like the “Monster Mash” introduction music.
Where can someone watch the Workprint version?
Never seen the theatrical version, I have edited both films, so I get the best of 2 worlds, kept the rape scene in but so much I removed and it still feels natural
Unrated version has that awful rape scene, as everyone else has stated. Theatrical cut is better for that reason alone.
Yep, have to agree as regards the Workprint. My favourite of the 2007 release (editing soundtrack was better too). Feels like only yesterday watching it when it leaked… getting old.
