I don’t know if this has been covered before but in the opening scene of the new movie where the journalists visit michael at smiths grove did anyone else wonder why the guy was stood behind michael the whole time while he was showing him the mask.
You would think he’d be facing him especially since he wanted to show him something.
Anyway just wondered if anyone else picked up on that and if theres a reason I’m missing as to why he stood behind him
It’s all part of keeping Michael obscured until he gets the mask. Honestly it’s as simple as that. The journalists represent the way the audience sees him, so it may seem silly in hindsight, but that’s the honest reason. Nothing more than that.
Sure we may see bits and pieces of his face leading up to him getting the mask, but any time he is without the mask, his face is partially obscured in some form or fashion. Hell of a lot better than seeing his face full on for the majority of a movie like RZH2. Probably the one thing that drives me nuts the most in RZH2, along with him talking, which is complete fuckery. Adult Michael talking is a total shit show in my opinion.
Thankfully the theatrical cut of that film omitted that ridiculous scene. Every time I see that uncut ending where he says “die”, I laugh, literally out loud. It’s so ridiculous I can’t help but laugh.
Maybe he expected Michael to turn around. But Michael being so emotionless and stoic stood still the whole time and never acknowledged him. That’s the way I took it anyhow.
Well he did acknowledge him. If you rewatch he partially turns his head where you see his “dead eye” after the mask is revealed but remains still after that.
