2/5 stars. JJC portrayal of The Shape, & the score are the 2 pluses for me. No Atmosphere or that feeling of dread & foreboding. They needed to bring back Dean Cundey.
The scene where he picks up the hammer I thought was better in the trailer where there is no soundtrack playing. Not that playing the halloween theme was bad by any means but in the trailer I thought it gave off a real h1 vibe
I really liked it. I didn’t care for the storyline with the doctor but I can get over it. I really liked some of the kills. The ending in my opinion leaves some to be desired and I do feel it was a bit rushed. All in all I give it 7.5/10.
I loved it. A true return to form for the Halloween franchise. Like I said yesterday. This movie gives Michael a clean slate. The rules have changed, and Michael has a greater lust for blood than ever. In a way, this movie almost feels like Michael’s revenge. As if he decided knocking off a couple of teenagers for kicks wasn’t enough. He was getting revenge on the town that stopped his fun for 40 years. As I was watching the movie, I could definitely hear Loomis’ lines in my head. If I could sum up the movie in one quote, it would be:
Sheriff Leigh Brackett: “Doctor, do you know what Haddonfield is? Families, children, all lined up in rows up and down these streets. You’re telling me they’re lined up for a slaughterhouse.”
At the end of the movie, I’m still not convinced he’s entirely human. Michael takes some beatings in this film no normal man could take as easily as Michael does.
I loved the lighting and atmosphere, but it could definitely have used Cundey’s touch, I agree.
Right?! The nostalgia of H2 '81 will always exist and mean a lot to me but the way this film was executed and the way evil was captured was truly special to me. They finally personified the fact that although human; he is the embodiment of evil. When the reporter asked him to speak and all the mental patients went insane; genuine goosebumps!
Completely agree. They really captured the feel that Michael is pure evil. And the tape recording of Loomis got that point across with the way he was saying something like “exterminate it, theres nothing to gain by letting it live”
Exactly! Behind the ending which I’m in the air about, the only scene I wasn’t exactly fond of was his doctor’s outburst against the offer. But the lack of conscious really shined through and even with all the hype I was still super excited and blown away
Same here man. The ending left me a bit deflated too and I didn’t like the stuff with the doctor either. But for the most part they got it right. Hopefully the ending will grow on us after a second viewing
She was indeed strong but toward the end we really saw that Michael was the embodiment of pure evil and only Laurie was prepared to begin to deal with it
I noticed there wasn’t a lot of sex/nudity in this one. Not that I’m complaining, TBH. The sex/nude scenes were always the worst acted parts of any slasher movie. And it’s always a predictable option to add in a cheap kill while the lovers are occupied.
I don’t understand some saying, “it’s not scary”,…not just here but on Facebook as well.
Honestly if an escaped mental patient walking around randomly killing people for no reason, and violently beating and stabbing people to death, isn’t scary… IDK what to tell you.
That poor woman on the phone. Seriously. When you see his reflection in the living room window, and then his shadow moving down the wall as he goes in between the houses? Chills. You know what’s coming, you know he’s stalking her for no reason other than she just got his attention. Then he just grabs her and smashes her face into the windowsill and stabs her in the neck? For no reason? …chills.
That was honestly my favorite kill out of the whole movie. I love how it was framed and shot. I loved that it shows him walking to the house, across the porch,…the whole ‘stalking’ of her,… It was totally random and evil and completely unnecessary. It was creepy as hell! That’s Michael Myers.
It’s like the Cops are just going to randomly find all these dead people the next day. “Susan didn’t show up for work today.” ….they find her dead in her home with a knife wound in her neck. One of many.
“Death has come to your little town tonight, Sheriff.”
Exactly! I think everyone will agree in time. This isn’t Hitchcock. But it was all there for a slasher film, albeit the best one in history, but in time it will really show off to be a modern 78 movie, if there is such a thing. I think this one will age well with time. Imagine what gold this will be after these artists pass on.
not just that, but this sequel (like the original) is groundbreaking.
I mean we got John Carpenter doing the music again, and Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle coming back 40 years later to make a sequel to the horror movie that invented the Slasher genre.
That’s really amazing. This just hasn’t been done before.
The HalloweeN franchise continues to break new ground.
I swore that when Allyson comes out of her house with her friends, you can see a Myers house lookalike with fresh paint in the background. Just a view from the corner, but it was a white boarded midwestern style house like the Myers house with the two windows on the upper level and the same front porch, and the shutters were dark blue.
