Ok, simple question. Just want to get people thinking for the future with this new Halloween sequel in pre-development. Jamie is done now right? Her daughters can certainly carry on the story, more less as more of “the ones that got away”. As much as I love the actress, I don’t know how I’d feel if she did another… thoughts?
I don’t know if I’d count her out quiet yet. She made a post but nothing about the directing has been finalized yet. Allyson was a bad ass character and they made it clear Laurie had been preparing her family for war so I see it working no matter which direction they go! JLC was wonderful in this film so I do hope she makes one final return in the sequel and they have her killed off or something permanent that can make sense of the new timeline
I’d support that. Tbh I kind of wanted that in this movie because it could have been written in beautifully, woth purpose. But obviously I won’t snark at another installment into the franchise. Especially if Blumhouse is behind it again, and maybe even David directing again. I look forward to the franchise’s future.
I’m hoping Jamie can return, but that one post on her social media accounts seems like she’s done. It said “#ByeLaurie” or something like that. However, in an interview, didn’t she say she’d come back if David asked?
If she doesn’t want to return I guess they could just say she died from her stomach wound
Personally, I was hoping Laurie would die in this movie, but oh well. I don’t feel like JLC will return for the next one, nor do I want her to. I don’t mean that in a bad way, because I like Laurie and JLC, but I just want this Laurie vs. Michael thing to end. I don’t particularly care which Strode girl is in the next movie, but I really wish we could get some new characters for Michael to go after. I mean, wasn’t the whole point of this new movie to take Michael back to his 78 roots, where he has no specific target, motive, or family ties? If they continue making movies with the Strodes, they’re basically doing the same thing as H2 1981 onward did, which was make him go after his family. I know in this movie Laurie and the Strodes are not part of his family, but if he only goes after them, it’s the same exact thing.
One more thing I want to add is, a showdown like this is not scary. It’s like a wrestling match. Who are you rooting for? Michael or Laurie? “Oh I’m definitely pulling for Laurie, I hope she kicks his ***!” “No way, I’m team Michael, this time’s he’s gonna finish her off!” Maybe some people like that, but not me. If they want to truly go back to the roots, give Michael a new set of characters to stalk throughout the movie, waiting for just the right moment to pick each one off, one at a time.
Exactly. Her Instagram post stating that was her last run as Laurie got a lot of people thinking but I’m not ruling it out at all. Especially with how 2018 ended
Tommy and Lindsey Doyle, the other two survivors of The Night He Came Home, left Haddonfield after high school and began a new life together. The Shape’s return shattered their four decades of peace. Laurie Strode says he’s finally dead, but the Doyles want closure. Should they leave the past behind or will they regret returning to Haddonfield? How will their family react to their decision? Halloween The Shape of Evil. 10.25.19.
They should end it with Laurie sacrificing herself to kill Michael, like Loomis did in h2. I think that would be a good way to bring closure to the series. Not that I want the series to end but I’d hate to see it become a cash cow of abysmal sequels
I’m digging it brother. A nice way to take things away from the Strode storyline, and makes sense. He wouldn’t be necessarily going after them, but perhaps they take it upon themselves to try and stop him after finding out he is not dead and still trick or treating on Halloween.
And great title, very nice and gets rid of the numerical tie downs. My thought on a title was Halloween: Evil Never Dies, but your idea is just as catchy. Let’s see where this thing goes, because we know now for a fact we are getting a sequel, especially after the 200+ mill it has raked in thus far.
Removing that family aspect certainly has opened more doors to unique stories involving our favorite Boogeyman.
Without Laurie coming back in the next one, it may seem like no closure has been achieved with the Strodes. But honestly without the family aspect, why can’t the Strodes just get the hell out of Haddonfield and go start a new life as a family somehwere far away from the madness? Since they were brought back together as said family at the end of this latest chapter.
I would be fine with it, and we wouldn’t have to see Laurie die. Just let her and her family ride off into the sunset and start over as a family again since they were distant before the events of that night.
Michael won’t be hunting her down like in H20, because he really won’t give a shit about them unless they stay in Haddonfield and get in his way. Hell, even when she got in his way in this latest one, he got the fuck out of dodge and wanted no parts of dealing with her until the doctor forced the confrontation.
Right? These were some of my thoughts as well, then you could have Karen or Allyson survive and finish it with a trilogy why not? Maybe wishful thinking haha.
I’d like to see them try something different rather than piggybacking off of the H1 characters, but if they just continued the H:40 story I’d like to see a plot where something itches at Laurie because she never saw Michael’s body, so she goes back while the firemen are tending to the ruins of her home and no body is among the ashes. A look similar to Dr. Loomis’ at the end of H1 comes over her face where her eyes widen but then focus as in her heart of hearts she knew to expect something like this, despite all that she told herself. Laurie fears for her family and send them off as she knows she can onyl do so much to protect them and cannot stifle their lives further. Laurie becomes the new Loomis character and is making it her life’s cause to find, prevent, and if at all possible- stop Michael.
We all know Michael will fixate on particular victims for no real reason and stalk them before the kill or attempted him, this time the one that comes in to his plane of vision is a familiar face-Tommy Doyle. Now Laurie not only takes up Dr. Loomis’ mantle, but her instincts from that night as a babysitter in 1978 meld with her newfound duties, her burden, but just like in 1978 Tommy isn’t the only one Michael sees that day.
Now I wouldn’t want the other fixation victims to be Tommy’s family members because that’s just a retreat of H:40. I’d actually like to see some kids involved. Kids in peril were a big part of late 70’s to 80’s horror, fantasy, and adventure films (mimicked today in movies and shows like Stranger Things, It, Summer of '84 and the like, but this wouldn’t be an excuse for a nostalgia time trip. I think Tommy being an elementary school teacher would work and Michael fixating on Tommy would then lead him to see one or more kids at the school talk with Tommy and then fixate on those kids as well.
Thank you! I agree with you that the Strode story is complete. There’s not much more that could be done with Laurie and her daughter and granddaughter that wouldn’t be a retread of this new movie or past sequels. I’d like to see Tommy and Linsdey brought back in somehow, though without Michael going after them. Like you said, he didn’t specifically go after Laurie and wouldn’t go after Tommy and Lindsey, either. They’d put themselves in the path of danger by having to know that he’s dead. I’d also like to see what became of the Myers house. I kept hoping we’d see it since at least the facade was used in some interviews, but no such luck. It would have been a neat touch to see the house relocated and turned into an office of some kind like the real house. Michael would probably not like what’s been done to his home. Of course, having him return there runs the risk of entering Resurrection territory, which is never a good thing.
