that would be awesome to have john carpenter and tommy lee wallace working at making a new halloween 3. totally sweetttt indeed!! but i really doubt john carpenter would help, but who knows!?!
im just setting here thinking how they will make halloween 3. “beats the fire out of me!!” but hey it is exciting news, that we have had in a long…time!!!
“i"ll just wait and see!!”
I think they should continue after the original Halloween 2 but keep the look and brutality of zombies style…( definatly lose the trash talk and redneck crap )
Rob simply said he is done with making Halloweens. he said that after the first remake but he swares he’s done with Halloween for good now.
i mean almost every Halloween has a different director. carpenter wrote it but he didnt even direct H2.
so yeah i guess its time to see what someone else can do with the series the next round.
Ill be honest and say that I do hope this is going to be a new reboot --but if its a reboot they realy need to change the title from Halloween 3…its just too confusing for the average movie goer—not only is there a Halloween 3 already, but this isnt even the sequel to the 2nd Halloween 1 and 2!!! Imagine trying to convince someone to go see Halloween 3 but that it isnt connected to: the original Halloween, Halloween 2, the original Halloween 3, the remake Halloween 1 and the reimagined Halloween 2–its a clusterfuck that will def’ hurt it at the box office. Honestly, who the hell is running TWC!? I used to have so much respect for these guys when they had Miramax…now its like they throw shit on the wall on just see what sticks…
I just hope someone else doesnt make another one like H3! But I was kinda dumbfounded by the way RZ H2 ended…honestly took me like couple of weeks to deciede if i liked it or not.
It would be near impossible to get Carpenter to direct anything else in the Halloween series. When H20 came out, he did not want to have anything to do with it so he gave them an impossibly large asking price, which he knew would be turned down. However, Carpenter may be open to at least writing the next Halloween…now that would be a good idea. Get a good, solid script from John then get a good, solid directer thats got experience in getting alot from a little with a great style----my vote would be Michael Dougherty, director of Trick R Treat–imagine that! The writer and directors of the two greatest Halloween holiday films, together!
Are you saying you would like the remake a silver shamrock mask round 2? lol I think it would be hard to follow after zombie got ahold of it cause he took it so far off, and destroyed the mask.
There is no way Carpenter would ever Touch this thing. He is happy collecting whenever they make a new Halloween and admits it but wants nothing to do with them past that. Said himself that he even thinks it’s sad that it had to continue past one. To me wishful thinking has it’s limit. To change the story line again for another reboot is suicide to the franchise in my mind. It is impossible to have any credibility in these movies if they can’t even follow a simple story arch. People will be like…again! I’m out! I wouldn’t blame them.
Im not sure if you’re asking if I want him to remake Season of the Witch or if you’re saying that Carpenter’s writing on Season of the Witch is bad. I personally love Season of the Witch–it really got a bad rap which it didnt diserve. That being said, no I dont want a sequel/remake/anything to do with Season of the Witch–I would like to see Carpenter write a new original Halloween film around Myers—but not connected to the other series. A reboot, yes, but not a remake or reimagining or anything. Just a new Halloween series all together then have Dougherty direct. Dont get me wrong, I LOVE the Halloween series but, to be honest, the producers have screwed this series up beyond repair–it is so goddamn convoluted right now that you’re scaring off the general public–and most horror fans in general (not the Myers diehards, just average horror fans). The big 3 (Freddy, Jason, and Michael) have all had a certain stigma attached to them: Freddy was always considered funny while Jason’s endless sequels have become something for average movie goers to roll their eyes at. To be honest, Halloween is starting to get it’s own stigma in the eyes of these people: that of a franchise that has written itself into so many corners because of the convoluted multiple storylines (H1, H2, H20, H:R — H1, H2, H4, H5, H6 — RZH1, RZH2 — H3, etc). Its really sad to see my favorite horror franchise becoming a laughing stock because noone but the absolute die hard fans can follow the goddamn thing! We really need a brand new, be all, end all, starting point to build a definitive franchise around. Who better to tear everything down and rebuild from scratch than the man who started it all?
Im pretty sure you’re right about Carpenter not wanting to touch it–however, I still believe that we’d have a better shot at him writing it before he’d ever direct it. and Yes, a reboot is what is needed. I agree that we’ve had so many screwups in this storyline but whats the alternative? Heres the current choices, and none of them sound pleasing at all:
1). Do a direct sequel to the original H1 and H2…which would really screw up the franchise for 4+, not to mention H20. Plus, you have to consider the future: where do you go from here?
Continue from RZ’s H1 and H2: really bad idea…the box office has been poor and the reviews have been even worse. This would turn out terribly considering the bad taste thats been left in the public’s mouth so far.
A totally new storyline (with Myers). This, IMO, is the only way to go. You can inject new blood (provided its done well), get a GOOD screenplay for a change since you arent trying to write from any current starting point or anything prior. Not to mention, set it up for sequels galore and try and bring in the new fans with a place thats easy for them to start.
Honestly I think it would have been better if it didnt follow two great movies (H1, H2) with one main charater such as Michael Myers… If it would have took on its own name withough the halloween begining, such as John Carpenter’s Season of the witch. Maybe it would have done alot better… But I agree, If carpenter came back into writting another halloween, it might actually save the franchise from total drowning…I dont think RZ is a bad director in anyway…just think he took on too much when he wanted to remake a movie like Halloween…You shouldnt make a remake of a movie that was awesome its first go around. My opinion
