Halloween 3, something I’ve pondered...

Does anyone wonder if Rafferty was an Android? How many of the townies were real or is it possible that Cochran had an entire town made of those droids? Anyway, watching it now and wanted to share my thoughts and see what anyone else had to say.

Jeez, that would make it even creepier. It’s certainly possible, especially since they seem to admire Cochran so much, but I think it’s best left unknown.

I think the movie was definitely meant to intentionally give off this vibe. Frankly, the whole town goes along with Cochran like he’s a genius and don’t seem to think anything weird of an Irishman turning up in a small Northern California town and imposing his will on the whole place through a bunch of strange men in suits, going as far as to impose a curfew. He easily could have replaced the townspeople one by one until he had a little front town that, to the passerby, seemed completely normal and harmless. To add to the idea, the only one who seemed to notice anything was up was the homeless man, and he was quickly dispatched by the men in suits as soon as he approached an outsider about it.

The reveal of Ellie as an android even makes me feel like she is suspect. Was she switched with an android when she was kidnapped? Or was she one the whole time? Think about it: a lonely old shopkeeper discovers Cochran’s secret and the only one that shopkeeper spoke to was a doctor who also happened to be the only one who seemed interested in pursuing the investigation into his death. Along comes “Ellie”, a beautiful doe-eyed android meant to lure Dr. Chalis to Santa Mira, and his doom. I mean, Hell, if Cochran can made an android that sneezes, he can make one that can sexually seduce a recently divorced man.

One reason I believe this is her starkly different behavior the moment Chalis rescues her…there’s no, “thank you”, or “let’s get out of here”, just a stern silence that seems awfully unusual for such a moment, especially when considering her behavior up to that point in the film. Of course, it’s possible she could have been “programmed” that way, if she was indeed an android, maybe that’s what they were doing to her in the factory, who knows? Here’s another thing though…if she wasn’t an android the entire time, then how could they have possibly made an identical android of her within that short amount of time, unless they were already working on it ahead of time somehow. Whatever the case is with Ellie, I will say this…if she was an android the entire time, that just makes the love scene even more disturbing.

I myself had always wondered about the theory of Ellie being an android the whole time as well…like there are signs that point to both possibilities, like after she takes a shower it’s like purposely shown that she’s shivering cold…clearly a human mannerism but yet androids sneeze so…and then the question Chalis asks her in the bed like does she ever get tired lol well if she was an android she obviously wouldn’t get tired lol so there are definitely theories to make you think…
