See there is the problem. When the article comes out, everything will be explained.
I will say this, there isn’t a Don Post 1985 ‘The Mask.’ 1986 was the FIRST year and that is in the Don Post Catalog. The stamp looks like 85, but it’s actually 1986. PLUS, the first year ‘The Mask’ had no markings, just like the ‘Capt. Kirk’ didn’t.
Sam was correct on some things, I was correct on some things. I will say this, Sam’s FIRST assumption was correct.
I’m in the dark here, but that’s ok. I didn’t own a “The Mask” until 1993. All the details about it are a wash for me, memory wise.
The ear looks like a Kirk to me- minus the earhole punch location. Also what’s that say about the mask with the uncut human eyes in the film, or the blond hair school mask attack?
I understand the notion of building excitement over something that’s not provided yet.
I’m still waiting on that negative film stock of the Original Halloween to become something tangent for the fans to look at for themselves.
No pics of it minus the cans have ever surfaced.
I don’t care if it doesnt have audio. I wish the damn thing would come out already. What’s the alternative ending? OK, no thread jacking from me. Whatever this is can’t wait for it to spill, I guess.
Hmmm…I don’t want to come off as brash, but can you explain a little more please? Was “The Mask” called something else in 1985? I have a Myers mask in my hands right here at work that reads “1985 DON POST STUDIOS INC” There is no mistaking that this says 1985, not 1986. I can text you a picture if you would like to check it out.
The Mask clearly says 1985 on it… I’ve owned a few and they all read that. However, I think what Billy is saying is that the stamp is wrong. They weren’t first made until the year 1986. Similar to the way that many own DP vinyl skulls masks that say 1967, but the actual mask was produced in the 70s. Or even 80’s and 90’s.
It say’s 1986. It looks like 85 because of the mold did not pick up the full stamp. ‘The Mask’ was copyrighted in 1986. The extremely rare first editions with a completely different sculpt made it out without any stamp.
The full article along with an HMA article should be out later this month.
