I just saw this BTS photo on the HalloweenMovies Twitter page. Shows Wilbur wearing the screen used mask posing next to what I assume is the dummy that gets hit by the truck? Can anyone confirm?
The masks seem to be identical, indicating that they came from the same mold. Is it already a definite fact that some mask was recast to create the Halloween 4 mask? If I’m right on that one then I believe that some mask had to have been recast and then several copies were made from that mold.
That copy was given to Darren by actor Devin Gardner, aka Danny Strode.
The mask somehow ended up on the set of H6 and Devin had kept it all these years until he shared it on the forums awhile back.
They’re all the same. The paint kept coming off on set so they constantly sprayed them so they look bland at times on screen.
This particular copy hardly seems to have any paint.
Is he a member on here? Or possibly you have his contact information… I can think of so many good ideas for this mask! I wonder if he still has it, and what the condition is like?! Also for some reason, the mask in those pictures doesn’t quite look like what’s on screen. Something is just off. Of course, that could just be the warping over the years.
Anyone who’s been here a longtime knows Darren/Tonymoranfan, senior member friend, owner/guardian of many screenused Halloween items.
And no, please don’t contact him over what to do with that mask. Screenused items should be left alone, no if or buts.lol Unless it’s deteriorating and needs restoration.
So far we know there was a kirk mask(or Tramer) brought to set.
That mask was supposedly recasted by Horn or some guy we don’t know at DP(as Horn states on the blu ray) and 6 copies were made.
The main hero out of the 6 is now owned by member Paul aka Crofader. Darren’s copy is one out of the remaining 5.
They are both identical just different eye cuts
Thanks for all that information! I’m sorry, I should have phrased that differently. I wasn’t going to contact him to see what he should do with that mask, I meant to say that I wanted to contact him to see if it is still in his possession and then separately state that I could think of many things to do with the mask. Sorry for the confusion . Regardless those are amazing comparison pics, K. I have seen photos of Darren’s collection and it is nothing short of amazing. I hope that I am lucky enough to own such high end props one day.
Another question: if Paul owns the hero, and Darren owns a second one, where are the remaining four? Also, I could’ve sworn I read somewhere that the eyebrow with work glued onto the mask. Is this true? If so, why does Darren’s mask have the same eyebrows in the same placement as Paul’s?
If Darren owns a stunt mask, and Paul owns the hero, how do the eyebrows match up exactly in shape and placement? Were they glued onto both masks with extreme precision or were they sculpted on and included in the mold?
Also another thought that came to mind when typing this: if the H4 mask was a recast of another mask, why did they have to glue/add on different eyebrows? I assume whatever mask they recast had eyebrows, and if it didn’t then that would rule out the Kirk or The Mask from 1984… Anyone have answers to some of my questions?
Forgive me for the slightly old bummp… but came across this post and thought i’d contribute… I think the whole “glued on eyebrows” thing came from fan speculation attempting to reconcile the long held stance that the H4 was pure kirk (a 1975 kirk) but the eye brows were an issue… as they didnt match… so folks speculated for some reason that eyebrows were added… or something similar… So no, I dont think that the evidence points to anything other than that the eyebrows were sculpted
I came to post the same thing. If you refer back to this M-M.net piece on the “Background Michael” in H6 you’ll notice that copy is seen in these still shots (along with the post above).
What’s strange to me is how different the hair is and overall it just looks like an entirely different mask. Almost like a pre-cursor to H20’s mask. It also looks a bit goofy, almost friendly, but then again creepy too. It’s just so strange, the background on all of these masks and the contradicting stories by cast and crew on each film. If only we knew the 100 percent facts. I don’t know how everything gets so muddled and confusing but it sure does.
Forgot all about this thread. Thank you for the answer!!
I’ve seen these. Beautiful mask with beautiful history.
I agree. Wow, imagine how easy it would be if we knew all the facts. Although I have to admit, I love the mystery. Puzzles and Mysteries have always been extremely entertaining and fascinating to me, so the fact that they are intertwined with my favorite movies makes it all the more better!
Im sorry but that pic of the “background” Michael from H6 does not look like the H4 mask. First of all the ears are totally different and stick out more like the H6 mask. Also, that is absolutely NOT the H4 hair. Not even sideburns. I think that whole story is false or the facts are jumbled and that mask is some rejected mask sculpted for H6.
Sorry but that’s definitely not the case. It is confirmed that it is the mask from that BTS of H6. Hair can change as can the orientation of the ears depending on how one wears the mask, but what cannot change is it’s lineage (which is is direct and concrete), and the sculptural details that all match the H4. Darren even confirmed the size and latex color match Paul’s. It is an H4 production mask.
