Halloween 4: The Curse of Michael Myers

Just watched it again today out of boredom, alone and just LOVE the feel of it now…aside from h1 it has the most Halloween/October feel to it ever…scenes like the scene with the bus in the morning just before Jamie’s family is in the kitchen, made me feel like I was there watching Halloween day unfold! The drug store scene, reminded me of when i was a kid going to local stores in search of a cool mask!!! I like the feel of other scences too, like the emotion that Loomis puts into his lines at the Diner “God damn you” SO GOOD! AHHH, I have a feeling I’ll be going on an H4 binge because I have a new found appreciation for the movie! LOVE IT!

That is all. Lol.

I couldn’t agree more AJ. H4 is my favorite of all the sequels. It really sets a mood and tone that sets it apart from the others. IMO It’s got the series best acting from Donald Pleasence. His scene with the preacher is a favorite, it’s very much his movie. And Danielle Harris can actually act unlike some of her adult counter parts. She’s got a great screen presence and pulls off some difficult scenes. We also get to see Michael in his escape mask which I think was awesome. I could have gone for more scenes of him in that mask before we got to the white one. And I love the score, very creepy and atmospheric but still retains enough of the carpenter mood without slavishly imitating it. When the classic score cuts in it’s explosive. Howarth’s best.

My few complaints with movie is the concept of a super-Myers, something I think was influenced by F13. Which is a shame since Halloween was the originator and F13 the knock off. This is something that happens frequently in the series with varying results. I feel H6 was influenced by the X-files, H20 influenced by Scream and Resurrection clearly chased the Blair Witch wagon. But the evolution of sequels always calls for more and I can understand why they felt they needed the extra power with Michael. I could go with it but didn’t necessarily need it. I thought the original conceit before bloodlines and curses was strong enough on it’s own. I also would have loved to seen Sheriff Brackett’s character return in H4 as he was written out of H2 too quick for me.

I like Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers even more! Somebody had to be the title nazi. :smiling_imp:

I completely agree. Besides H1 + H2, H4 is my favorite. I get such a great Fall/Halloween feel from it. Something else I really enjoy is the driving scene towards the end. It makes me think back when Loomis said “He’s not human.” I mean come on, what human could climb around a speeding truck like that? Other notable scenes for me are Michael rising from beside the bed and the school scene towards the end, not to mention I actually liked the Jamie kill at the end.

I agree the feel of this movie is amazing, but my favorite sequel is h6 because it also has that halloween feel to it and the story revolves mostly with the 31st

Halloween 4 is one of the best in the franchise and quite possibly THE best of the original series outside of H1 and H2.

The beginning intro NAILS the fall/October feeling and I love just about everything that follows. There were a few things I wasn’t crazy about but the movie as a whole works nicely and has withstood the test of time.

I just watched this last night and it is also one of my fav sequels.

HAHAHA, I REALIZED THAT I FUCKED THE TITLED UP WHILE RIDING MY SCOOTER THROUGH TOWN TODAY. LMAO. Brain fart at its best.

It doesn’t really matter. Everybody knows what you meant…I was just being a douche.
Good post though. I am also a big H4 fan!

I would have done the same thing, haha, so funny that im going to leave the subject titled like it is. Lol

yes definetly got that Halloween feel to it ,especially the beginning in the farm in the Morning.

H4 is great and i enjoy it from the very start with the opening credits and that late october halloween vibe and subtle ghostly sounds that are present sends chills straight away.and Danielle Harris was friggin epic in that movie for a kid actor.

Return of the Shape after a hiatus, Danielle Harris, 1980’s. Whats not to love? Was always my favorite.

Good post AJ… I love H4, it was the very first Halloween movie i saw as a kid. The scene where Michael is climbing the stairs right before he kills Brady is classic and it scared the SHITE outta me when i was young… Its still pretty creepy how they are all locked in the house with him… H4 is def one of my favorites  :drinkers:

I too agree with you love the feel of the film and was very much welcomed after Season of the Witch

When I first saw 4, I was disappointed. I was expecting too much of a movie like the first two. I was disappointed in the way Michael looked. But it was a very well written and suspenseful movie with a swift pace, decent acting, and great character development. The murders were well done too. It’s no wonder it was the number one movie for a few weeks. Too bad Carpenter and Warlock didn’t return

None of the sequels will ever beat the original film, but H4 is great! H4 does give off the holiday vibe and you’ve gotta dig the scene with Bucky. :smiling_imp:

Agreed. 100%
