**_Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers is not the best of the series to say the least. However, that’s not to say it doesn’t have some strong points. For one it has DONALD PLEASENCE, that alone elevates the movie. The movie also has a great Halloween/Fall season feel, some cool chase scenes and … a GORGEOUS 1967 metallic-blue Chevy Camaro convertible!
I tried a few times (with little success) to add a replica of this car to my collection. It’s hard enough to find the correct style of 67 Camaro but add the correct paint and rims too? Forget about it!
FINALLY I found the correct body type, however the paint color and rims were not even close. Fortunately my good friend James Carter is in addition to being a mask converting genius, great photographer, fantastic knife, stand and sign maker (and who knows what else!?) an EXCELLENT model car painter.
Between him and I we FINALLY found the correct color of paint…that alone was no easy task! James meticulously repainted this car to the correct color and the “Halloween 5, Michael Myers Camaro” started coming to life.
The rims that came with this Camaro were not the correct style so the next thing was to find the right ones. Even this was MUCH more difficult than I expected. After much trying I located the rims but they were plain silver and in H5 there is a gold center to the rims. For this I sent them off to my friend John at Creations Unearthed. John did a very nice job of getting the correct color in the right places added to these rims.
Next, the license plates that came with this model car needed to be replaced with Illinois tags (Z5J 639) to match the ones on the Camaro used in the movie. For now, I have had my friend Damon Cleary run off some inkjet printed ones (along with a Halloween 5 label for the stand) but these will be upgraded a bit by Billy Effner per his 3-d printing machine in the near future.
Finally, Damon is going to make a one-off custom stand that will replace the simple one the model car sets on now. This is going to be quite special within itself!
I’ve taken a few basic pics for now but we’ll update as this project continues.
Thanks for looking everyone!
