Halloween 5 Brute mask Question

Hello everyone,

Long time fan, new to forum. Quick question for you guys,

The Brute mask from Halloween 5, does anyone still make a copy? Where can I find one? Halloween 5 was the first Halloween I ever watched so I figured I would try to get both masks (a Brute and Rubies H5)for my display.

secondary market might be your only option right now…look for an HSS H5 Brute…very nice quality

Thanks.

The company that made the original masks back in the 80’s is still operational and making this mask. Same sculpt and everything . It may need a slight repaint and a hair replacement. But after that it’s the closest you can get.

Great find, thanks a lot!

I literally just snapped some pics of mine unrelated to this thread. I received my Masken Rudel “Brutalo” a few weeks ago. I trimmed the eyes and weathered it up a bit. I’d say he’s looking pretty fantastic.

Love it! It truly is a beautiful mask. I’m currently working out a deal with the company for the molds. Wish me luck!

Keep me in the loop, I’m intrigued!

Will do!

Why would you try to get the molds while she is still making them for people? it would kind of screw everyone else out getting a copy.

Well look who’s quick to jump to assumptions :unamused:

I never stated that I would discontinue them. I have plans on selling them myself in high-quality thick cast latex instead of the vinyl she uses, as well as with more accurate hair and paint jobs.

That is if she decides to sell them, of course.

the originals were vinyl with rooted hair.

What if individuals such as James Carter spray painted and Streak n’ Tipped the hair of his masks to convert them? The originals may have been vinyl and rooted hair, but following the original methods doesn’t always result in screen accurate masks and props. It’s pretty apparent that the new methods of finishing don’t look quite accurate to the originals and that some work needs to be done in order to get a good screen accurate look. I’m just trying to offer them in good quality at a lower price where overseas shipping from Germany doesn’t have to be factored in.

Also, I would like to apologize for the attitude in that first reply. It was unnecessary and pretty foolish of me.

I ordered mine about a week ago, and I mean the price is incredibly reasonable as is in my opinion. I paid $45 usd in total for the mask and shipping to the states. Can’t wait for it to arrive

This isn’t meant as a knock, just an opinion. Being that the originals were vinyl and this sort of hair, I would personally prefer to have the vinyl mask with the rooted hair. The only issue with the new ones in my eyes is the bright red “lip stick” lips and the paint ups. No need to change anything else.

Well there is certainly nothing stopping me from selling them with Vinyl and rooted hair. If it would be THAT big of an issue for everyone, then that is how I would keep making them. I know the vinyl she uses as well as the hair, who knows. Like I said it is not at all a definite.

There’s also a certain joy in having the mask come from the original company that just can’t be replaced by a replica. The original maker passed this craft down to her daughter. This is a family business, with history and culture outside of Halloween V. Receiving a package straight from West Germany is riveting!

I’ve seen copies as recent as last month that do not have the red painted lips. Take Precarious’ copy for example. Beautiful. This quality is not something anyone can do better in my opinion.

I would say my copy is an exception. I haven’t seen any painted like my mask in recent years, it seems rare or unusual even. And while I love my copy, there are certainly things about it that could be rendered more “accurately” to the vintage masks, and the Halloween 5 mask specifically.

I agree with the sentimentality around buying the mask directly from Masken Rudel. There is certainly a history to be respected, and a joy to taking part in that history ~ that is definitely aknowledged when you receive a package “from Germany”. I’d still like to see a fan made replica, since theirs aren’t quite hitting the mark. The authenticity is there, but the accuracy leaves room for desire.

This ^^^^^

Also I’ve decided that if they say no to selling the molds, then I will just sculpt my own version .
