We will have to see what the do it but I’m 100 percent positive they won’t go jason part 5 on us lol that would be beyond dumb
Why has MM still got all his fingers on his left hand?
I just…don’t care about this anymore. im so ready for this trilogy to be done. im fatigued by it like I am super hero films and Star Wars movies. in many ways this trilogy is going down exactly like the recent Star Wars one. nothing but fan service in the first movie, god awful second, and sure to be disappointing final installment. then there will be never ending spinoffs.
Dream sequence or Cunningham ?
It doesn’t surprise me that both trilogies are following the same path. After all the Force Awakens started the current Legacy sequels trend.
a direct response 3 years after the fact?
It has all of the tropes of what the Force Awakens did.
Use a similar plot to the original film, and take whole entire plot points from previous films. Bring back the original stars in smaller roles, and have the younger characters take the lead. Overload the film with nonstop nostalgia.
By the way I’m not bashing 2018. I’ve actually warmed up to it a little bit.
I’m hyped for this, looks like we’re getting three totally different tones for this trilogy. Ends seems like it will be much more grounded than Kills with an overall slower pace. Can’t wait. Might need to marathon '78 - Kills before this one. Haha!
I have to be honest, this might be the first time I’m actually legitimately interested in one of these new David Gordon Green films. 2018 didn’t do it for me, Kills didn’t do it for me either but at least the lighting improved, which thankfully seems to be carrying over to Ends based on this trailer. Based on the rumors and official synopsis, it seems this film is indeed going in a different direction, (as many have said, including Carpenter and Chris Nelson) with the potential of having a “copycat killer”, which, call me crazy, seems very refreshing to me. I’m very curious to see how they do this.
yes I agree with all of that I just wanted to know if someone involved in the creation of H40 specifically stated it was a response to TFA. Just seemed like that’s what you implied- and it would make a ton of sense considering the structure of both is so similar.
I am as hypercritical as they come with film and am a frequent reviewer on IMDb, yet I really enjoyed H40. Perhaps it was an expectation thing-mine were incredibly low for h40 whereas sky high for TFA. I find h40 to be a much more satisfactory first installment to their respective trilogies than TFA due in large part to how short and sweet it is. It is not overly reliant on copying the plot of the 1978, thereby doing enough to tell its own story. It isn’t a masterpiece-the ending was bad IMO and it should have been a standalone film, but it is solidly above average at a 6.5/10. TFA is a near carbon copy of A New Hope and I walked out of the theater before it ended, it was just awful in every way.
I’m thinking that Sartain twist may make better sense after Ends. Seems that evil has permeated through the community with Michael’s presence. That could also lead into future films and a bigger universe.

Tbh I don’t mind the copycat idea, and the reason is because I’m always gonna view H20 as the ending. So I don’t mind if Ends tries something different and experiments with the formula.
I think the copycat idea is derivative and indicative of writers who are mailing it in due to being out of ideas/uncertain of how to end the trilogy
I grabbed a couple of stills from the trailer and added my initial thought(s) for discussion. Feel free to comment and add your two cents!
Also, I kind of hope it DOES have a copycat killer and both Laurie AND Michael fuck him up. Lol. What better way to show the horrific greatness and legend of Michael Myers than to witness a pathetic copycat version of him trying to be a badass, getting a few grisly kills, perhaps messing up another couple of attempted kills in a sort of anti-Michael manner… showing the copycat as a forced/chaotic presence rather than the controlled, methodical, pure evil that is Michael. The copycat has his 15 minutes of fame and then gets the Laurie treatment followed with Michael coming in like, “sit down, nephew” and gets absolutely demolished.
Anyway, having another HalloweeN film to look forward to this fall is WAAAAAYYY better than having none. So I’m going to enjoy the hype, and the experience regardless. Try to let go of all the disillusionment and just enjoy the fact that we have Laurie and Michael returning one last time together. They even added a couple of shots from the original film! I’ll gladly take this than nothing at all.

Your image of him grabbing her by the throat was taken from 2018
Oh, you’re right. It was right in the middle of the montage that included the scenes from '78… should’ve known.
Maybe since he’s getting old and his flame is going out, he’s trying to pass his essence off to another human. Hence how sartain lost his marbles for a bit. Maybe it’s the mask. Maybe this dude comes across his mask somehow and gets corrupted. Maybe it’s Maybelline? Lol
I’m so ready for anything in this film. We are so lucky to have any Halloween movies at this point, considering all the different directions the sequels have taken since the original. Copycat? Cool. No copycat? Cool? Silver Shamrock controlling things? Cool. No Silver Shamrock? Cool. MM is a robot? Cool. MM is unexplainable? Cool. I literally don’t care ad long as we are getting new content. The fact that they were able to corral the actors & creators to come back is just peachy to me. Definitely looking forward to the new soundtrack. I was sold on these sequels by Carpenter doing the music & the mask alone so I’m all in.

Yup. The score alone is worth the price of admission
