I’m so hyped that your top three are the same as mine haha! Great list man! I originally had H6 at number nine too, but since watching the Producer’s Cut it made a lot more sense and gave me a better understanding of what the team were trying to do with the franchise back then in 1995.
I’ve never seen any of the other ones, and I don’t really plan to (except maybe Zombie’s remakes). I gave II an 7 because as much as I love it, it has some really noticeable flaws. The characters seem a little dumber. It’s not THAT big of a deal because it doesn’t happen to often, but they do do some really stupid things like fucking in a hot tub, and not seeing the shape when its right in front of them. At one point during the chase the music noticeably jumps back a few seconds, it just sounds sloppy. I feel like if they had just filmed a few more scenes, like of Michael cutting the power, the whole dark hospital would be more believable. I know there was a scene like that in the tv version, but I’m just talking about the theatrical version. The last thing that sets it back is the lack of suspense. Until the last 20 minutes, there really is no suspense. For me anyway. The music, the portrayal of Michael, and the overall feel of the movie were good though. I gave Halloween a 10 because there’s nothing I can think of that would make it better.
yeah, both the producers and theatrical are better in there own ways, the producers made it make more sense but then they intend that michael myers, had a child…with jamie… ugh the whole story of the thorn i’m not a fan of personally, I like there being no reason or rhyme of why michael kills. But we certainly do all have our opinions
Yeah, H2 has a LOT of flaws, the whole movie seemed really silly and predictable, where as the original had me on the edge of my seat. I hate the hot tub scene, I knew atleast 30 seconds into that scene what was coming lol. The thing I hate most about H2 is that stupid ending, Laurie shoots Michael in the eyes and he still manages to swing his scalpel around with the WORST SFX I have ever heard in cinema history! As if you’d be able to hear a scalpel being swung around the place haha, to me the franchise ended after H20. If you haven’t already seen H20 man then seriously have a watch of it! It was a fantastic sequel in the franchise, I prefered H20 over H2. Has an amazing ending too! Can I give you some advice about the remakes… In my opinion, Rob Zombie destroyed the franchise, halfway through production of H1 Remake, RZ lost ideas of what hew was trying to show the audience, the first half of the film was… Ok. But then after that it’s just like original with a sort of deleted scenes added effect. H2 Remake was even worse too! Made no sense lol
Yeah the child thing was a bit f***** up! In my opinion I liked how they were trying to go for something new with Thorn, although it then made Michael have a motif, this took away his reason to kill people, which I hated. The ending to the Producer’s cut has to be one of the funniest scenes in cinema history when Dr. Loomis gains the power of Thorn hahaha!
Intereting list man! I see your point about H5, lol. When they finally ignored H4, H5 and H6 in H20, It brought back the killer we know to love from the original (although Michael in H20, wasn’t very good) the whole feel of the final act brought back lots of good memories from the face off with Laurie in H1. H20 in my opinion saved the franchise from that horrible cult of Thorn story, which they were probably in the end going to take the franchise to stupid new levels with this idea.
I truly respect your view man! I found the original boring at times too! I thought that H2 was just a simple fun movie, and it still is today when I watch it. I love the killing montage Michael portrays, I love the increased gore factor and I especially love how Michael became a lot slower in speed and almost possessed like his human self was no longer amongst the characters. The only thing I didn’t like about this movie was the over used music and the ending scene I didn’t enjoy.
We get alot of threads like this, that often turn into fights over opinions, so we lock them…nice to see some civil conversations in this one! keep it up, nice work guys…enjoy!
Thanks man! I’ve seen several threads that have turned into arguements too, I don’t see why everyone can’t just enjoy the site and more than anything just have some fun! Thanks again buddy!
Unfortunately I’ve seen most of the rest of them. And I agree with you 100%.
Halloween 1978 - 1.0 (10.0)
Halloween II 1982 - 2.0 (5.0) (But very predictable/laughable/etc.) And only because the original makers/characters were involved. And that’s stretching it really thin.
ALL the rest - waste of film. (Including Zombies wretched remakes!) All about making money at our expense. Jumping on the F-13 mass sequel band wagon. If Carpenter’s involvement in this newest installment proves true to his promises, maybe just maybe we’ll have only the third installment of this franchise that isn’t a laughable joke. I guess we will see. Waiting with baited breath!
