All the years I’ve watched H20, as I am right now as well as we speak, I thought about a few things.
When they CGI Michael’s mask, is Durand wearing another KNB but they just CGI’d the facial features or the whole head?
For those who know, there’s a deleted scene (which was much better off being deleted) where one of Laurie’s students mentions Jamie from H4, 5, 6. Why did they even have that scene if H20 was practically all about being the sequel to H2.
Did Michael seem like a mime in this one? Lol
And yes, this is my third favorite Halloween so I’m not making fun of Michael in this one.
The only gripe that I have about H20, is that it didn’t feel like Halloween. There should have been a ton more atmosphere in the movie, other than a few pumpkins and Halloween decor in the kids’ little party room.
That’s something I noticed, too. But there was that one scene where Laurie is going to meet the adviser for lunch and there’s so many kids trick or treating, messing around, or just dressed up all in costumes. That scene was the most that felt in spirit to the season.
I couldn’t disagree more. Halloween H2O & Halloween II are my favorites, because they are the best out of all of tuem it brought back a classiness that the other ones but the first two had. It wasnt all about guts and gore and the vveryblame Thorn thing. And Michael also looked the best in this one in the 4th one he looks like he had o neck which has been said before and the 5th one he’s looks as if he iis foreign and the 6th one he’s looks aa tad bit fat and has a very samll knife that he uses once or twice so H20 whould have to be the best IMO the the first 2 and I don’t evonsider resurrection a sequel, if it would have just been 1,2, & H20 then the remake then i would be happy but then again the series may not have been as big. As for the Jamie thing I think it was meant to go with the 4,5,6 thing but then they felt sense they had Jamie lee back tthey wanted to go back to the original and also they didn’t want to have the thorn thing which would make Michael alot more like tthe first two by just making him a man that wanted to kill his sister and anybody that happend to be around.
Yupp. It’s like see 1, 2, & H20. Don’t even bother with the rest. But honestly, the BEST ending is part II. That’s where it should have ended. Because it was Michael at his best, he looked the scariest, the setting was scarier, and part II was just the best sequel. And equally as great as part one.
Well when I first saw HALLOWEEN H20 in theaters, I was excited. But after seeing it all the way through, I was a bit disappointed they disregard the events of H4-H6 and how it was very short and not much as intense as the previous 6 (including III because Dick Warlock is friggin’ awesome as the VOMITING ANDROID.)
The biggest positive that DEFINITELY saved and carried the film the return of JAMIE LEE CURTIS as LAURIE STRODE. Her storyline of life AFTER HALLOWEEN 1978 was believable and fantastic. I mean, trying to live a normal life without the HORRORS of that night to scar you forever is always a bitch to shake out of your mind.
The things that bugged me personally for one, is THE MUSIC SCORE by John Ottman. The orchestral score in my opinion just doesn’t ring HALLOWEEN atmosphere to me. The Synth/Ambiance scores by John Carpenter and Alan Howarth had become the MAINSTAY of the series for so long before H20 that the orchestral style just felt so foreign. I had hoped that ALAN HOWARTH would’ve returned and I think of what his score would’ve brought to the film the darker, ambient, and more creepy atmosphere .
Also I think they should’ve began the movie with the funeral of DR. LOOMIS and a eulogy by MARION WITTINGTON (Nancy Stephens) and then go on the actual beginning of the movie. I think personally it would’ve been a perfect sendoff and acknowledgement of Loomis’ life of obsession and his fight against THE EVIL contrast to Laurie’s HIDING from and FEAR of THE EVIL coming for her. (in her case, her EVIL Brother ). Then a scene where Laurie reads about Loomis’ death, which makes her remember him helping her into Witness Protection and giving up Jamie for adoption. For a subplot of that, it could be that Jamie’s biological father’s family wanted custody because Laurie was declared “unfit” to raise the child.
Also, I think what was missing was a Loomis character. Say for example, the son of SAM LOOMIS, an FBI profiler (or a former one) who after finding out the murder of Marion Wittington, stumbles upon somehow Laurie Strode’s Witness Protection records and discovers that THE SHAPE is after her. ANd thus, unwillingly, inherits LOOMIS’ CRUSADE.
There’s a lot of more “what ifs” and “what could’ve been” for this film that could’ve made it a very stronger and more darker entry. But lets hear from you guys. What are your opinions?
I agree! The score was more romantic and it felt so in love with its place in the genre. For personal preference, I would have LOVED if they had Alan Howarth do the score (not necessarily the way he did it in part 6, or even 4 or 5 for that matter lol) but in H2 he did such a creepy score that nailed it for me!
I think the reason they didn’t include another Loomis-like character was because they thought the story should be about Laurie and Michael, 1-on-1. So even if Loomis was alive, they probably wouldn’t have brought him in for that reason. Also the fact that, even though they exclude 3-6, a good portion of the audience (both fans and non-fans) may have been overdosed on Pleasance, I personally missed him, the way he was in part I and II ONLY! (Part 4 is the most I’m willng to go with Loomis up until the point he actually "believed Michael was dead which was unlike Loomis.
And instead of Adam Arkin in the movie playing her boyfriend, I REALLY wish Lance Guest was in H20 playing a husband who is annoyed by her paranoia or something. That would have been interesting, but overall, I liked the movie, but they should have stopped there lol, with Moustapha Akkad, we all knew that wasn’t the end because they kept undoing the story.
You know after watching HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION intro when I first it, I thought the ending of H20 should’ve ended with Laurie removing the decapitated Shape’s mask off (to trick the audience thinking “We’re gonna see his face finally” bit). But instead of THE SHAPE’s real face, we find the head of the PARAMEDIC. She screams and cut to JOHN and MOLLY behind an ambulance where THE DRIVER PARAMEDIC’s face is obscured in shadow and on his lap…the BLOODY BUTCHER KNIFE! Then the HALLOWEEN theme begins and end credits (without CREED’s Whats this life for song).
7 was ok, 8 was f#cking pitiful, i wish the would remake the story of 5 and 6, i really liked the organazation of thorn and his keeper, I loved the directors cut of 6 … thats my word, totally OT though
I have to say, part 6 really hurt me When I saw it, saw it a few years late and I was a kid, it wasn’t tooo bad for me because as a kid I enjoyed the slicing and dicing Michael delivered. But now as a 20 year old, I gotta say it hurts me to watch that movie, because Michael isn’t pure evil anymore, he’s a weapon of a cult. And that’s not how he started, so I am GLAD they took 3, 4, 5, and 6 out of continuity. When H20 was released, they established it’s a sequel to part II, and I was of the same mind. Not meaning to bash on you or anything bro, just saying for personal preference it was a bad movie, and in the director’s cut they practically show Michael getting it on with Jamie!! That really ruined it for me! Lol
