I have a question. Most of us have seen H1 and H2 and this question is about the condition the jungle boots were in. If I remember correctly in H1, when Michael Myers steps from the Sanitarium vehicle, for an instant you can see the sides, etc. As a wearer of combat boots, I can confirm the wearing I saw which was a bit white-ish does happen if the boots are not properly polished or cared for.
Seems like whoever owned those boots prior to Michael scuffed them up pretty bad.
Anyway, I can’t seem to find much on the web about shots of the boots during filming, does anyone have any tips or links they can provide? Your opinions are always wanted!
I think he wore Green Vietnam style Jungle boots in the 78 movie. Not sure about 81, but probably something similar as that was what was all over surplus shops at the time.
I got a black (nobody can see the green anyway) pair on ebay for $20 bucks that were super broken in. Then I stuffed some superfeet insoles in there. (they cost more than the boots haha) I can walk around for hours with zero discomfort. I wear these boots with 3 different costumes (Punisher, Constantine, and Myers) and I spend 10 hours at conventions so I needed something comfortable.
The canvas sides are awesome too to keep your feet cool and comfortable.
I actually polished mine up a bit and they still look pretty worn.
Visually I like the simplicity and it’s a vintage touch that makes the costume work. The more complicated tactical boots they have now are gaudy imo. I just imagine Myers jumping on a Harley or something haha.
Yep, I got flat black Jungle Boots myself despite the ones in the movie having the green trim:
They’re actually very comfortable boots, I wear mine almost everywhere I go.
I also agree that modern tactical boots look so generic and bland these days. They look as if they went to K-Mart and bought a pair of Craftsmen construction boots. Though, last Thursday I did see a guy in Naval fatigues who was wearing what looked to be some sort of modernized jungle boot. They looked like the classic jungle boot, but a bit more padded. I presume he was on leave from the Great Lakes Navy training camp just north of Chicago.
I have a pair of new tactical boots. They look pretty cool actually. Definitely not as classic as the old school though. I got them because they were like $20 on sale. And yeah I can vouch for how comfy they are. Reading this thread makes me want to get a new pair though, of the more classic style.
Mr. Eric is obsessed with screen accuracy like no other when it comes to Halloween movies
He’s a close personal friend of mine. He’s pretty much got all the wardrobe down.
Thanks for sharing brother Eric!
