"Halloween II" (1981) Props

Here are two of the original props I have from the original “Halloween II”. I wanted to show some photos before I part with them. The first is easily recognisable - the radio in Alice’s house from the start of the film. This scene was of course a Carpenter re-shoot so the radio was just something the property master picked up and was not part of the original “prop stable”. I obtained this from a cousin of the property master approximately eleven years ago, and in my ignorant youth I did not bother to stay in touch with this person (who I recall was very nice) nor seek more detailed information about the radio, his cousin or the film’s production! Furthermore, for the life of me I cannot remember if he was the cousin of property master Daniel Lee Stoltenberg or assistant property master James A. Rathbun; I only know that both worked on Halloween II and Halloween III together, but I suspect it was Rathbun. The PM gave the radio to his cousin after filming was completed and he had owned it ever since, using it for a number of years before storing it and then re-discovering it in the mid-2000s. The radio is still in excellent condition physically (I haven’t tried to turn it on) and is a K-Mart home-brand.

The second prop is one of the pair of shoes worn by Gloria Gifford as Mrs Alves for part of the film. She alternated between these slip-ons (or “clogs”) and lace-up sneakers with socks. This is the only pair kept by Gloria after production wrapped and I obtained them directly from her in 2008 (Donnie got her white coat!). Gloria signed these originally in blue marker but unfortunately it soon faded away. Like the radio, they are in excellent overall original condition.

I have more older photos on another computer but these are the latest. I used to have them stored in a display cabinet but following a recent move I’ve just had them sitting on a shelf. Thanks for looking.

I have not posted on here in a very long time, lurked but not posted! This is one of the greatest topics iv’e seen on here in a long time aswell!
WOW, both these items are two of the most amazing pieces iv’e ever seen! You have the actual radio and a pair of the shoes from the
original Halloween 2, it don’t get no better than this plain and simple! Virtually impossible to find anything H1/H2 related!! Loved the info on
both items, came from original sources and solid as a rock even though you can tell just by looking at them what these are. Please tell me you
still have these Paul, what I would give to have these babies coming to me! Sounds like these are long gone and I am kicking myself BIG TIME
here :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: Unfreakin believable mate, thank you so much for sharing anyhow

Those are awesome, even more so, true vintage items looking just like they did in 1981!! Really cool.

These are awesome pieces! Very recognizable to as i could have known what they where before even reading the post!

Halloween treats in February! This is the GOOD stuff. Those are definitely two iconic pieces from the franchise, would love to own these. Has to be tough ones to let go of Paul.

Thanks, guys. Just something different from the usual masks… you sure don’t see any props from the early films around much!

Do you by any chance know the make/model of the radio?

It’s on the label right on the back of the radio in the 2nd pic:

Kmart brand model 31-92

I managed to find an old ad for this particular radio but it seems they got the pictures mixed up. Still pretty cool though:

Wow… Now you don’t see that everyday! Awesome share, thanks!

Thank you, I couldn’t make it out.

This is a proper treat! Thank you so much for sharing!

Now that’s a score…

Does anyone know if you can buy this type of radio? I’ve been looking for one everywhere online with no luck.
