Yep, he has a point
This Joe Grizzly guy has become down right ridiculous. His saying his point of views are not opinions but FACTUAL are just idiotic! Why are you trying to jam your opinions down peoples throats??? Why so F****** argumentative???
This board is about Michael Myers…the movies…the masks…the season…
I AM ABSOLUTELY THRILLED we got a new movie even though I felt it was WAY overhyped for what product we got but i absolutely look forward to another one…
But to sit here and read some of this garbage makes me not want to even come here anymore.
Agreed. Everyone has their own opinions. I’m not trying to force my viewpoint on anyone. I’m just saying my thoughts about the two films. I like having discussions about the movies and hearing the same viewpoints as well as differing ones. It is nice to talk with people about the films, the masks, and the holiday in general. I don’t understand people who get argumentative about it. When someone says their take on the films, that does not make it fact. Not at all.

Right on man. I’ve been saying that for so long
When it comes down to it, although I liked H40, I find H2 much scarier. H40 might be more slick, better filmed or whatever, but for me it doesn’t capture the same feelings I get when I watch H2. In H2 I’m rooting for the nurses and Laurie because they take a little time to set the characters up, or they’re dealing with characters from H1; in H40 I don’t really get that and I’m actually rooting for Michael for most of the movie until the finale because most of his victims are either totally random or just plain annoying, in the case of Dr Sartain in particular. It does fall into the trap of modern franchise horror by almost making Michael an anti-hero rather than a lurking terror.
Those are strong words. Considering it was 37 years since H2, of course the effects and quality are going to be levels beyond. I too enjoyed the new film but in no way does it make H2 seem like a B-movie. In what sense could you explain that?
1978 was the innovator of modern slasher films. No debating that. The 80’'s brought about a gore race so H2 of course had more disturbing scenes like the hot tub and scalpel kill. Just look at how many people go for the Warlock stretch or try to emulate the mask from the film.
Sure it wasn’t perfect, but to call it a B-movie is just an insult. The hospital atmosphere worked well and it was surprisingly well-scripted. Carpenter and JLC wanted nothing to do with it but they made it something special anyway. The blood tears scene has gone down in infamy and thousands of masks have been made to replicate that scene alone. Again, I understand it not being perfect but in no way is it a B-movie. Even with the new film, it is still a classic.
Because the film is skeletal in comparison. I already explained that thoroughly. Finally getting another good film in the Halloween franchise I think really exposed Halloween 2 for how shallow it is.
Yeah, I don’t really have too many problems with the kills specifically, just that it felt like the movie had to cheapen itself to keep up with the industry. Again, most of my points that I’m using against the movie were affirmed by John Carpenter himself, and he wrote the damn thing.
I’m actually not arguing any of your points, and as I’ve said Halloween 2 is my personal favorite in the series. But it’s just no comparison to H40. You can go up and down the line and in almost every aspect of filmmaking, H40 is so much smoother, well done and has so much more substance. The direction, drama and atmosphere was so professionally done, as opposed to being a cheaper carbon copy. Don’t get me wrong, Halloween is a damn good movie to make a carbon copy of, but H40 was so much more than that.
Again, your opinion. You can say it until you are blue in the face, but spouting your thoughts like they are gospel does not change the fact that it is still an opinion.
Halloween 2 is a better film. That is MY OPINION that you can’t change.
First off, if you have nothing of substance to say other than “that’s my opinion,” why do you even bother responding? Second, if your of the mindset that your opinion will never change, that’s the very definition of being close-minded.

If people don’t want to argue, then they don’t have to argue. It’s a little silly to constantly go back and forth with someone and then get mad because the person is actually presenting points. If you can’t present a Counterpoint, then clearly there’s not much of an actual thought process behind your opinion, is there?
Without any actual base or thought process behind your opinion, it’s just completely arbitrary.
What you’re calling idiotic is really just basic comprehension. If you don’t want to engage, that’s fine. But so far the only people taking issue with my posts are the people who can’t actually present any actual arguable points. At all.
And on the other side, there have been a few people that have responded to me who have actually been somewhat thoughtful and presented their own points. They didn’t get angry and complain, they engaged and made arguable points. And there was no vitriol. That’s what adults do. So you would do well to learn from that. It doesn’t really make much sense to get all up in arms and angry at someone for presenting an argument when you can’t even counter it.
You also have to realize that the very topic here itself is going to lead to debate. Seems kind of like the point.

Guess I didnt present points in the pages before, huh? Okay then…
And you dont read very well… I never said my opinion would never change. I said YOU can’t change my opinion. Read to succeed, friend.

No, you really didn’t. Basically just repeated “my opinion.” Actually, you did make some points. I promptly countered them and didn’t get any counters back. When someone reaches a dead end, I’d say that’s a pretty good indicator.
What the difference is there between those two? Either way you’re saying your opinion won’t change. So either you’re close minded or you have a personal bias against me. Either way, very logical mindset.
Please explain why you’re saying someone else could possibly change your opinion, but not me specifically? The only reason I can think of is personal feelings. People don’t like to hear they are wrong about things, it’s only natural but it’s unfortunate.
I’m curious how many of you would be as laid-back as you expect me to be towards people who would actually seriously say that they thought Halloween 5 was a better movie than the original Halloween. Maybe put that into perspective. Because Halloween 5 is clearly not better than the original. And yes, I would be just as adamant to explain to someone with that opinion why they are purely and simply wrong.

I made my points and even said you made a good point about one thing regarding the new film. I left it at us agreeing to disagree and that being okay. You were the ass who came back and said what you are arguing is not opinion but fact. Boy, that’s one strroooonnggg argument there…
Just quit while you’re ahead. You’re making an ass of yourself.

Just because someone doesn’t agree doesn’t mean they’re inferior, no need to have the last say.
You need to understand some people will say “imo” to avoid conflict and that is that…let it go
