Halloween III Diegetic Music

Diegetic music is that which occurs within the narrative world and is heard by the characters. In The Fog, the tracks broadcast on KAB 1340 are diegetic music. In that film, most or all of them came from a royalty-free music library called Bruton Music. They have all since been located and are easily available on YouTube. One of the pieces in The Fog, Staggione Vivaldiana from Bruton Music, also occurs in Halloween III. It’s the piece that plays when Stevie is driving to the lighthouse, and when Marge Gutman takes a witch laser straight to the mouth. I would guess, then, that the remaining pieces of diegetic music from Halloween III would also have come from Bruton. I have poured through much of their enormous library and haven’t found them; I’m wondering if anyone else has ever found them.

They are:

A pop-rock type piece that plays on the Kupfers’ arrival in Santa Mira, featuring a female vocalist singing something like “bah doo-ba doo-ba doo-ba doo-ba doo”.

The slow electric guitar piece that plays when Challis and Ellie get it on.

The slow vocal piece that plays while Challis and Ellie are lying in bed and Challis wonders if Ellie is just the least bit tired. The vocalist may be singing something like “I hear the bell…”

The big band piece that plays on the television in the Rose of Shannon office while Dan is calling out and gets the operator. There is a dancer on the television.

The song on the radio while Dan is driving away from Santa Mira with (unbeknownst to him) Android Ellie! The male singer sings “just pack your bags!” (This may actually be a Coupe DeVilles track).

Finally, two of lesser interest - the cartoon music at the bar and the carnival music that plays in Cochran’s Hall of Fame. (These could both potentially be Howarth/Carpenter pieces).

Also, feel free to add to this list if I’ve missed any.

Hopefully those tracks can be found, but there’s a song from H4 that I’ve always wanted to find. It plays on the car radio when Rachel and Lindsay pick up Jamie from school, on their way to the discount mart.

Interesting! I never paid much attention to that. I wasn’t really aware there was a song during that scene.

BUT, after I wrote this post, I decided to check around a bit more for these and I found three of the ones I’m looking for and they’re all available on YouTube!

The post-coital song is Time Goes By by Madeline Bell.

The song that plays when the Kupfers arrive is Do the Boogaloo by Quango and Sparky.

The song on the television when Challis is in the motel office making a phone call is Cha Cha Del Sol by David Lindup. This piece is from Bruton and several of Lindup’s pieces also appear in The Fog.

Awesome, glad you found those!

What’s the name if the song playing before the lady in the lab gets killed with the drill? It’s playing when she’s making a few calls before she is murdered…

That is one of the few that still hasn’t been discovered. There’s more info in this later thread. https://forum.michael-myers.net/t/halloween-iii-source-music/68053/1
