My friend transferred this from quadruplex tape the other day. This was the shortened teaser trailer that they also used as a TV Spot for Halloween III. I believe this will be on an upcoming title from Scream Factory that I’m not at liberty to talk about.
This TV Spot was used in 1982 during the rebroadcast of 1978’s Halloween on NBC; the year after its premiere on TV in 1981. This spot was shown in the very last commercial break advertising for the new movie. I was 11 and seeing this TV Spot, I thought that Laurie took over the roll of the unstoppable killer. (I hadn’t seen Halloween II so I had no clue what was going on past Halloween.)
I love this HIII promo so much! It’s so eerie and mysterious, and it doesn’t reveal a single aspect of the movie whatsoever! I love it! That’s how all trailers should be, instead of the huge spoiler-filled ones they keep releasing. I try not to watch but it’s so damn hard. It really pisses me off when they put clips in that are clearly from the end of the movie. If they are DETERMINED to show footage of the film, there should be a rule that the footage must come from the first 20 minutes of the movie ONLY. Nothing after that whatsoever should be shown.
