***Halloween Kills & Halloween Ends Discussion***

there are multiple signs pointing to a new clean mask…#1…Nelson almost gave it away on 2 heads…2…JJC and Nelson posted theyre in the fx studio and posted a picture…I do believe JJC was there for a head cast…Why would he need one? perhaps for facials wounds or potential future wounds…but I am gonna venture and guess if its for a mask…It must be a clean or diff version, They have the molds for the kills masks…Like toth for RZH2, They would likely pull those back into sculpt form and go from there…There is no reason to cast courtney again unless theyre making a mask, Could be argued that they should still have JJC face cast by that logic…I am still putting money toward the latter

Interesting… What do you mean by “Nelson almost gave it away on 2 heads”? Is that a podcast or something? I’ll look into it

Yeah its their thing with two head podcast…It was very light but the question was asked if it would be clean for ends and he said they got something very special planned…If you were to just further weather the existing mask like the blood at the end…That isn’t exactly ‘‘very special’’ it is continuity

I’m sick and tired of the “New 78 mask” trope, after 40 years, we need to see something new, cause the only way that would work is if they include kids and Myers cosplayers and Michael kills them, why not just have the mask just be the hero as it is today at this point and it just completely falls apart

The connection between Michael Myers and the car could be that they are both radio receivers.

In “Christine” the radio would suddenly start playing right before someone died inside or outside of the car.

Exactly how radio signals make the car and Michael Myers indestructable may or may not be related to radio signals though.

Of course the origin and motives of these radio signals are an even bigger mystery.

wut

unfortunately he is not talkin crazy lol…there has been major rumors saying the radio tower triggers michael…stemming from comments made stating the radio tower plays a major roll in ends…they have also stated that ends is more of a christine movie…so thats where he gets his reasoning for that lol hes makin sense actually…i just hate the idea

How does one take “radio tower will play a large part in the next” and “it’s more of a Christine movie” and turn it into this idea lol

Lol personally i have no idea…but the theory scarily lines up…ppl even said the loomis line ‘‘waiting for a silent alarm to trigger him off’’ will be literal lolol Ive seen a few credible YT channels running with it as well…again I have no idea how they landed on this conclusion…I took it to mean michael was gonna fall off the tower or some shit like that lol

Hopefully the radio towers importance will just be a setting for the final fight

If this tower crap happens it may just be one of the dumbest decisions in this franchise to date imo. And God knows that’s saying a lot :weary:

I would honestly be amazed. They seem to get the premise that the shape should remain mysterious.

So I just watched this again 3 times on Blu-ray. I gotta say a few things here.

The good:

  1. The flashback scenes were absolutely fantastic, especially the alleyway scene, total H2 vibes.

  2. Michael chasing after Karen from the Myers house to across the street threw the alleyways.

  3. Adult Lonnie Elam was absolutely brilliant, loved him.

The bad:

  1. Loomis’ dialogue (did Michael kill again)

  2. Nurse Marion’s dialogue (evil dies tonight) and acting was bad.

  3. Sheriff Bracket, again the acting was bad imo

  4. Tommy freaking Doyle, damn this guy was annoying af.

  5. Laurie Strode, mostly JLC herself as I thought she was awful. The way she delivered her lines was just cringey.

  6. The whole hospital mob shouting Evil a must die.

All-in-all I’m still not sure what to make of this film. I loved it at the movie theater, but after watching it 3 times at home, I’m just like wtf is this :joy:

I honestly didn’t find the flashbacks to be any good at all. Michael seemed to move in ways that were extremely uncharacteristic and the whole thing just felt off. First of all, had pretty much any other Michael been walking in the ally and someone called out to him, he just would have ignored them and kept walking. He wouldn’t have turned around to look. Second, when Michael charges the officer at the window, I know they were going for a Michael/Bob scenario all over again, but it was really poorly done. The distance was three times as far as Michael/Bob was, and the way Michael basically runs with his arms out looked so stupid. Then the way Michael was flailing around was farcical. Then… when the officer is punching his gut, it was beyond stupid and just screamed “youtube fanfic”. And as Michael is holding the officer while hiding behind him, it looks pretty ridiculous how much he’s jumping around. Other Michaels would have stood almost perfectly still while holding the officer so strongly he wouldn’t have been able to move. Then how Hawkins shoots his partner from 6 feet away is just facepalm inducing. He could have easily walked right up to Michael and pulled the trigger point blank.

Just about the ONLY thing I liked from the flashback was the exterior revealing shot of the Myers House. They actually got it to look pretty spot on in that moment.

Hopefully it’s nothing more than a set piece. That’s one thing I think would actually be kinda awesome…if Michael chases Allyson to the top and one of them falls. (Hopefully Allyson, but it’ll surely be Michael :unamused: )

Here’s behind the scenes footage of the flashback scenes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yk0p3imsDYU

Yeah honestly all the dialogue in the flashback scene is cringe. When Michael popped out and got the officer there was like 10 camera cuts that made it feel off. The bob scene flowed smoothly. Not to mention when the flashlight is shown at Michael, you can see his eyes and he’s constantly fidgeting and turning his head. Hawkins shooting the other officer was stupid along with the comedic zoom in on his face. I feel like Hawkins missing every shot is lazy writing. Loomis should’ve been a bit less H5 sounding.
Some positives are the soundtrack, especially the “Michael kills judith” track being slightly out of tune as the camera pans away from Michael, Loomis and the officers. The cinematography is good besides the weird abrupt cuts. I like the look of Michael even though I think they could’ve done a bit better to capture the original mask and coveralls. The set and Myers house are dead on replicas. Everything feels just like 1978 besides the crisp film quality.
Kills is a very big mixed bag for me. Alot of things that are done well are done very well and the bad things are extremely bad. Makes me wonder what some of them were thinking when making the creative choices they made.

I still have had only one viewing of Kills, opening night in theaters. Didn’t stream it, haven’t bought the dvd. I barely have any interest to watch it again, sad  I’m sure I’ll buy the dvd when I see it in those $5 movie bins at the store

First post. Have literally no one to discuss the swirl of KILLS thoughts in my mind so I thought I’d share here. Note: if you loved it THAT IS AWESOME. This is not an argument. These are just my takeaways:

  1. Flashback scenes – Incredible mask. Incredible Myers house. But why does it appear Michael wolfed down two burritos after falling from the balcony? Dude shows up with a spare tire and – for the first time in franchise history – Party City-ass blue coveralls.

Forget Thorn, this is MY curse, being irked by stuff like this. Castle Stretch meet Armstrong Bulge. Goodbye, Tex Green.

  1. What kind of karaoke night allows speeches regarding murders from the '70s? Imagine waiting to sing “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and up walks Buzzcut Killjoy making grim toasts. I’d be peeved.

  2. Legacy character scorecard:

Nurse Marion (C-) – Why is she in this film? Got clawed in a car hours away in '78 and she’s now doing shooters with the kids? First to shout “Evil Dies Tonight” and boy howdy does that ever take off. Only a nasty death bumps her up a full letter grade.

Lindsey Wallace (A) – Everyone grumbled, real housewife, etc. But she acts her ass off; her chase scene with Michael felt like what more of the film should’ve been – a tense stalk. Glad she survived.

Sheriff Brackett (D-) – The Captain Phasma of HK – a character given NOTHING to do. And that’s a shame because allowing him a simple scene to reinforce the significance of the night would’ve been quick and easy. His daughter Annie was killed 40 years ago that night. No mention? No look of wistful pain on his face? Instead, they make him smirk out his “one good scare” from the first film? WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING, HALLOWEEN KILLS? Brackett should’ve retired to Florida. (Yes, I know.)

Lonnie Elam (B) – Not much to work with but an interesting take on a former bully, well-acted.

Laurie Strode (C-) – “You know what would be great? Laurie’s bedridden in a hospital but THIS time she ISN’T stalked by Michael!” What an insane decision compounded by reams of insane dialogue. What I’m saying is I wish I were on the drugs Laurie Strode were on after getting gutted like a fish.

“This is Michael’s masterpiece.” Whoever wrote that goes straight to Dialogue Jail.

Tommy Doyle (F) – What else is there to be said? Bad character given an intensely joyless performance. Every scene with Tommy is gridlock. I looked forward to Anthony Michael Hall taking the role but man he brings such clenched intensity. Thank goodness he died (Tommy Doyle not Anthony Michael Hall).

  1. Know who’s good tho? MICHAEL AUDREY MYERS. My only gripe with the firefighter massacre is that he didn’t kill more firefighters. Because that scene rules. Yes, it’s Jason territory but so what? Michael is legit terrifying. The scene with the knives? The park stalk? You kidding me? I want a supercut of all his scenes and little else.

Despite where I am posting, I’m not strictly a Michael stan. I like well-written characters. And I love the (mostly) Michael-less H3. But I’ve been waiting since Warlock for a properly frightening Michael – with an accurate mask – and we have it. JJC is a fine successor.

  1. Old people. Flying drones. Indoors. Around midnight. Might there be another way to imbue character? Maybe dial down the wacky? (Same with the Johns.)

  2. When it comes to warnings against the rule of mobs, I’ll stick to Dio.

  3. Allyson Strode got a raw deal. Few scenes of consequence. But Karen Strode – the non-mask wearing MVP imo – got an even rawer one. More scenes but oof what a gut punch at the end. R.I.P. Christmas sweater. (I love Judy Greer, the best.)

  4. Whatever my gripes, there is now another hour of John Carpenter Halloween music in the world. Yet again the man delivers. We don’t deserve him.

  5. Lastly, I think bumping ENDS ahead four years is a necessary move. I don’t want EVEN MORE OF THE NIGHT HE CAME HOME AGAIN. Let’s move on. Maybe they’ll do something interesting. Nowhere to go but up (famous last words, I know).

Final grade: C-

Done venting. Again, no offense. Hope you liked it, really. Now I can take my KILLS thoughts out to pasture.

Ends begins filming on Wednesday. Shooting until March 10th

Who want’s to see the Silver Shamrock masks in ENDS?

I think the chances of seeing these masks again in ENDS are pretty good.

The chances of ENDS entering the SOTW universe is unlikely however.

If we only see one of them, it will probably be the skull mask, because in KILLS, Michael did seem to favor this one. It’s unclear why Michael decided to take possession of this mask after he presumably killed the kid that was wearing it earlier.

And how this kid and the other two trick or treaters got seperated is only speculative, even though this probably sitting on the KILLS cutting room floor.

It’s unlikely that Michael had a plan ahead of time for this mask, or even the other two. It was only after the deaths of Marion and the other two that he decided to place these masks on their heads.

Now if this mask does pop up in ENDS, Michael would have had to retrieve it before he left the playground for good.

Michael could have returned to the playground after he gave up on catching Lindsey, which was not to far away. This could have been done off screen after the cut to the hospital.

So if Michael Myers has possession of the Skull mask he could have hidden it in is coveralls.

What I would like to see is Michael actually wearing this mask this time. This of course could happen in a single sequence for a short time if Michael, lets say, loses his mask for a short time and then gets it back later.

What a scene that would be! The shape wearing the blood stained Silver Shamrock skull mask!
