I do the same… little carlos he’s 5 now hes benn watching halloween with me since he was 2… he know’s the characters name some lines etc…
… i always skip the killing parts…
Yeah at 5 they aren’t really watching.Don’t have kids yet. When I was forced to babysit,Ironically I would bring Halloween but I never could get the kids attention. Although they watched the whole h3 movie.Probably because of that damn song.I watched Halloween when I was really young and it just grew on me. My mother never really had problems with horror movies since she was such a fan.And its funny when I told the kids that none of it was real they lost interest. So I broke out the old myers costume I used to have.
I was never able to see any of the Halloweens until they premiered on National Television; so I’d share that same respect with my kids if I ever have any. I would also abide by the ratings board for movies as well if my kids decided to see a movie at a theater.
i let my boys watch the edited tv versions with no nudity or swearing.but they can watch the great pumpkin and mad monster party all day long…tommy
I think I saw Halloween for the first time when I was 6 or 7. I saw just about all except h20 and resurrection before I was like 10 and was never scared by them or had thoughts about killing. I’ve been watching horror movies with my mom for the longest as she figures that I can tell what’s real and what’s fake, which I could at the time somewhat. We’ve watched some pretty violent ones though such as Jeepers Creepers, House on Haunted Hill (remake), and others I can’t think of. Before I was 17 they would go see the movie with me and my brother. If we were really young like 9 and 5 (me and my bro are 4 yrs. apart) the only parts I’d have to close my eyes on were the sex scenes but my bro had to cover up for some of the more graphic violent scenes plus sex. Surprisingly they didn’t care about language but then again our dad cusses a storm everyday so maybe that’s why lol. I think the only movie they turned me away from was the first Saw even though it was no worse than what you’d see in a Jason movie. Back then though I didn’t care for horror movies as much as I do now but the first one that made me love horror was “The Grudge”. God…that movie gave me nightmares lol
As far as my own kids though I’m not too sure. If they’re peaking around the corner like some of the other members kids were then I’ll ask them if they want to watch it with me. If they do then we’ll sit down and watch it. It depends on the movie though. If it’s halloween then the only part they need to cover their eyes are when Lynda show’s herself to Michael. Halloween isn’t blood soaked like Friday the 13th so they won’t have much of a reason to cover their eyes when Mikey kills someone. Of course I’ll say that it isn’t real because I don’t want my kid turning into Tommy by asking a million questions lol If it’s something like Hills have Eyes or RZH then that’s one we’ll watch together much later down the road especially the “scenes” in them. This whole topic though reminds me of my cousin as he desperately want to fit in with his older cousins by watching horror movies with us. We had to turn off “The Howling 3” right when it started because it was scaring him which resulted in some harsh name calling. I’ve told him before that it would be better if he watched tv in another room because we watch some insane horror movies at times. By him having nightmares this ends up with the five of us (me, my 3 cousins, and my bro) being yelled at because he chose to stay in the room with us after we warned him.
I would like to have a kid or two one day who loves horror movies as much as they’re dad though :finga:
