Probably news to nobody here, but AMC Fearfest begins playing Halloween movies tonight with the original at 8 pm and H4 to follow. If memory serves H5 and Ressurection play tomorrow night with repeats to follow through the week. Apparently there are no scheduled screenings for H2, H6 or H20.
Saw that last night and said HELL YEAH!!! Then ran outside screaming! HELL YEAH!! Ran down the street all the way 2 Wal Mart screaming the whole way
I,m locked up now
HEY On my 3 DAY OLD Samsung LED 46’’ tv tonight!
YES no more dead pixels on my old LCD 40’’ YES!
I don’t find it as exciting… see, here’s the thing. I appreciate the fact that AMC has this Horror fest but I noticed the other night that they air edited versions of the films. Edited for both time and violent content. I notice they then re-air the same two films afterward but are these edited as well? I never checked… They were doing the F13 fest last week and I noticed that in Jason Takes Manhattan for example, they cut out a few endings to some of the kills… one I can recall offhand is the boxing rooftop fight. They cut to commercial right as Jason was about to take off his head and when it came back, what do you know, they skipped it.
The only reason I care at all is that my father (who lives in New Brunswick) is the type that never appreciated horror films when I was growing up… I recall watching Jason Goes to Hell with him when I was younger but that was about it… he really enjoyed it though. I recall him laughing hysterically at some of the deaths. Aside from that though, he never really cared. Then last week, he mentioned out of the blue that AMC was airing horror films, thinking I didn’t know and seemed genuinely excited about it… I think he’ll probably tune in to Halloween, as he always knew of my love for it… but I was really hoping he’d see H1, H2 and H2O. Sure, I could send him the DVD’s but my father is the type that can’t figure out how a computer works. I’m sure some of you understand where I’m coming from… Anyway, BOO to editing for time & content!
I’ll be watching WWE RAW, unfortunately.
I know a lot are going to hate on the TV edits, but for me, watching Halloween on TV during the season is just as much a part of it as carving pumpkins.
I agree. I can watch the dvd’s anytime, but there is something cool about watching it on TV during Halloween season.
Same here! Nostalgia is a big part of it, I remember watching these films on TV when I was very small.
Despite the edits, it’s special. It’s like when your favorite song comes on the radio, it makes you happy and makes you smile even though you own the CD.
My mother and father are going to watch it after all!
I truly hope they enjoy it!
Does anyone know why they haven’t aired H2 in years?
I have 4+ copies of this movie, all within easy reach and here I am watching it on commercial TV
For some reason, I find it also very exciting when its on tv. And not that much is actually edited out. But once in a while they speed it up to fit the time in and for me having seen the movie more than anything, is very noticeable and annoying. But still, I could care less!
They sped it up? I noticed that, I’m watching the first film right now and something felt off. The music was going faster than I remembered…huh…ah well, I’m glad I wasn’t just imagining things.
I do that with lot’s of movies not just Halloween,i’ll have them on DVD but when they get aired on TV i enjoy watching them that way lol like Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown were just aired recently and couldn’t pass it up and i have the DVD’s here that i haven’t watched in a while.lol yeah the H2/81 thing is strange that has never been shown in years on TV here in the UK’ last time it got aired was about 2-3 years ago on the Sci-Fi channel of all places.
Appreciate it. Too lazy to get the CD from my collection
Agreed. Cable TV is for suckers. Xbox Live, Netflix, Hulu, and Blu-Ray FTW!
I also love watching the films on tv,there is something special about it.It always gets me in the “Halloween” mood.like Dren said,it’s become a ritual to watch the films on tv around Halloween time,it’s just a vital part of enjoying the holiday IMO.I am dissapointed that they decided to play resurrection over H20 or H6 though, bummer.
I agree with everyone, its the history, the tradition every year… eventhough they “butcher” them up… its still fun to watch them…and definitley puts me in the halloween spirit!
I’m going to also agree with most people here. I have to watch them when they play them on TV, edited or not. Like others said, for nostalgia purposes.
Speaking of nostalgia, I love that AMC does the horror fest every year. That being said, does anyone else miss the fact that they don’t play the classic horror films anymore, like Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolf Man, The Creature From the Black Lagoon, etc.? I loved watching those old black and white films when I was a kid when I came home from trick or treating, but I haven’t seen them on TV in years. Disappointing if you ask me, as they really got me into the spirit of Halloween.
TCM was playing a few the other day. I was watching one of the Peter Cushing Frankenstein films.
But I do remember watching some oldies on AMC during Fear Fest, back in the day. Namely, the original The Fly. Good stuff.
If any of you are looking for the classic horror movies, Svengoolie still plays them. He is a Chicago-based horror host who has been around since the late 70s. He is also the pic in my avatar. He plays all the classics, Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Creature, etc. He has gone national and can be seen every Saturday on ME TV. http://svengoolie.com/
And yes, I love the AMC Fear Fest. It’s a must to watch ever year. I grew up watching the classics on TV and taping them onto VHS and even Beta tapes!
