Hey all,
Was watching The Fog last night and something caught my eye. In the scene where the character of Dick Baxter rises from the gurney in the hospital and moves toward Jamie Lee Curtis, it reminded me alot of the end scene in Halloween after the Shape sits up then moves toward Jamie Lee. I paused the scene in The Fog and damn it all if it doesn’t look like Nick Castle might have made an uncredited cameo. You only see whoever it is from the nose down, but it sure looks like Nick to me. If you get a chance, let me know what you think.

I do see the similarities in the two scenes, but Dick Baxter is played by actor James Canning.
Did you catch the name Dick Baxter was also in Halloween? In Halloween, Dick Baxter is the guy that Annie suggests Laurie ask to the dance, but Laurie says she would rather go with Ben Tramer.
Also, there is an obvious tribute to Nick Castle since Tom Atkins’ character is named Nick Castle in The Fog.
One of my favorite movies…that scene was also a pick-up shot. After the movie was done filming John watched the finished film and was under whelmed at what he saw! The movie just was not scary and it just sat there. John and his crew went back and fixed the movie and added new scares and FX work; this was one of the scenes that was added after Jamie Lee finished filming Prom Night in Canada.
John has said that he can look back at his body of film work and have something good to say about each movie…except
The Fog.
If that scene was indeed a “pick-up” shot, then it may point to the possibility of it actually being Nick Castle. We know that John and Nick were working together at that time on the screenplay for Escape from New York.
If you look at Canning’s height compared to the actor who played Al Williams, John Goff, he is considerably shorter. Whoever was in the hospital scene seems to me to be much taller.
Also, Boogeyman1978, did you notice that “Buck” Flower’s character was named Tommy Wallace and that Charles Cyphers’s character was named Dan O’Bannon, a nod to the sci-fi writer who, among other things penned the novelization of Alien?
