From what I’ve heard, that’s an extremely unreliable source. Also with the DGG trilogy just ending I can’t imagine that another contract was already made for a TV series. Give it some time and we’ll have more soon enough.

I hope not, I heard about a Crystal Lake prequel series (though by A24, a hell of a lot better than Blumhouse), but I hate it when all the mystique is sucked out of a franchise by prequels and origin stories and over explaining things.
I believe back in the early 2000s, post Resurrection, Trancas was mulling over a remake, or a prequel series, when Rob approached Akkad and they made a deal to do both, creating the 2007 movie.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they were revisiting the prequels series concept, even just to test the viability.
