HALLOWEEN: The Night HE Came Back (OFFICIAL FILM)

Let’s try this again! lol. There was an error with the last upload, but we should be good to go now.

The official film for Halloween: The Night HE Came Back is here.

Halloween: The Night HE Came Back is a not-for-profit Fan Film that takes place 40 years after the events of Halloween 2 (1981).

IMPORTANT NOTE: The film may or may not be available on your mobile devices. You may have to watch via desktop or laptop.

Director’s note:
We wanted to create an old school low budget film that displayed the similar mood, atmosphere, and tone as Carpenter’s 70’s classic. Instead of creating a fan film similar in tone as the later sequels, with groups of teenagers running around at parties being killed off with lots of gore, we decided to scale it back and create that claustrophobic, small town, independent, 70’s slow moving vibe of the original. The original Halloween was very small, not just in budget, but in feel and tone. It wasn’t until Halloween 2 when the cat was out of the bag that things really began to open up. This is a very important detail and we wanted to capitalize on it. Hell is breaking loose down the street, and no one knows about it. We hope you enjoy our tribute.

Synopsis:
A shy and introverted aspiring actress moves to Haddonfield Illinois, unaware of its secrets and her connection to them. As Halloween falls upon the sleepy town, a familiar presence engulfs the innocence rebuilt.

Dave I loved it dude. You captured the season, the mood, music, low budget feel. I really enjoyed the film tremendously!

Thanks buddy! I really appreciate that! That means a lot! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!

Really enjoyed that, loved the trailer when first shown and the film didn’t disappoint either.
Congrats to all who took part in it,best fan film i have seen and i’m not just saying that to be polite.
Great work, get Akkad on the phone we have a director.

Thanks so much man, I really appreciate you saying all of that. We worked hard, and could have continued to tweak things, but sometimes, you gotta let it go! lol. Hey, if John Carpenter, Akkad, Blumhouse or Trancas wants to talk, I’d listen. lol. Dream come true for sure.

Cheers!

That was really well made! Got more than a few scares outta me. You really captured a sense of dread and foreboding, as well as the season and the feel of October in Illinois. I liked the choice in use ahead of Bob’s apartment building, which had a look of being built from Indiana limestone, a popular building material for older buildings in the Midwest. Couple of questions:

  1. Did you use multiple masks? The mask looked different in some shots. Also, which mask(s) did you use?

  2. The details were very crisp, what did you shoot the movie on?

Just re watched it Dave, the washing machine is that paying homage to Halloween 6? Lol if not still awesome. Jamie Lee Curtis star was a great touch. I live one mile from Haddonfield, NJ where Debra Hill grew up and thus the inspiration when she helped write the movie. The neighborhood looks identical to Haddonfield here in NJ. Again brother great film and you can tell you’re a huge Halloween fan with the different tributes and homages in the film.

Hey man! Thanks for the comments and feedback! So glad you enjoyed it! That gorgeous house was built in 1879, and is now an actual apartment complex. It was a blast to shoot there. Georgetown Ontario Canada. We were very particular about making things look like the Midwest. Luckily Southern Ontario has some great old towns that do!

The mask was an MMK, and it was the only Mask we used. But lighting played a huge part in what we wanted to present.

What we shot on, was all dependent on what look and vibe were going for. We used 3 cameras. The Canon Rebel T4i, The Canon Mark DII, and the RedCam. 1080P, and 24 frames per second to give the piece a more cinmatic feel.

I’m so glad it was good enough to watch a second time. lol. The washing machine scene was actually a sper of the moment idea, although Halloween 6 did cross my mind. We didn’t have time to blow Leah’s head up though. LOL. :p.

Ok, that is VERY cool that you live one mile away! I definitely would have shot there! lol. I’m so glad we were able to capture that Midwest, old school vibe. There are a lot of towns in Southern Ontario (where we were shooting the climax) that resemble that Midwest. It’s really nice!

Thanks again buddy, much appreciated. We decided to go with an original vibe, rather than a H20 vibe. I think it worked. We could have polished and tweaked forever. lol.

Just watched Dave  very good job on this! I appreciate that you made something for the fans with the 78 mask! Nothing else does it for me  Very ol Skool vibe going on and love the Pasadena footage. I’ll be there in a couple days so this was very cool to watch right before hand. Thanks for sharing it with the biggest fans ever right here on mm.net!

Hey dave, just wanted to let you know i posted the link on the official Halloween board for folks over there to watch too.
Id post a link to the thread but not sure i’m allowed on here.

That’s buddy! I am glad you enjoyed all the Easter eggs, and vibe of this film. Can’t wait to see your photos when you get there! It’s great to be in that environment!

I saw that! Thanks man, much appreciated!
I’m not sure if you can, but I’m cool with it lol. so glad you liked it enough to do that bro, really awesome! It was a fun film to shoot, and re-creating that older school vibe, rather than a modern vibe was a lot of fun.
