An anthology series still seems to be the best choice after how they ended Ends. I would say that Corey could have carried the mantle further if he didn’t off him self so finitely.
True but I SERIOUSLY DOUBT they’re going to let go of Michael. Just a hunch.
I just hope they give the franchise some breathing room and take their time releasing the next movie.
I may be in the minority here but they need to take it back to him just being a random serial killer. IMO the Laurie stories need to rest and he should go back to being a stalking murderer without all the super natural stuff that has followed throughout the series. The idea that it could actually happen is what intrigued me as a kid. Just my 2 cents
Would love this
This would be great to see, yeah. Just Michael knockin off baby sitters on Halloween night. Back to basics.
Completely exclude ANY AND ALL things that would hint or involve Laurie and the Strodes, JLC too, and do the first with Myers being minimalist, then go straight to the anthology series
Couldn’t agree more. The more simplistic the more fear creeps in. Just a psychopath running around on Halloween night in suburbia is EXACTLY what is so scary.
Honestly, I just wish they would let the series rest. However, if they must keep it going, then the anthology route definitely gets my vote.
I really wish they would just leave the series alone. We don’t need anymore sequels, re-quels, spin offs or reboots.
Just let it be done.
I remember an interesting fan theory that Judith wasn’t originally intended to be Michael’s sister, but merely his babysitter. The key to the whole thing being that Michael is never referred to as “Myers” in the course of the film, and only identified as “Michael Myers” in the credits and OST track listings.
Completely agree.
Now THIS is what I’d LOVE to see
Move the hell on from Michael Myers. Make the series the anthology series it should have always been.
Get the greatest horror filmmakers to make a new horror film centered on Halloween every year.
The best way to start? Get John Carpenter to write and direct a new Halloween movie that doesn’t feature Myers. He’s often talked about wanting to do a monster movie. The man’s a genius and even if he just wrote it and did the score, his involvement would sell the anthology idea.
This won’t happen, of course, because Hollywood has been stuck in “take no risks” mode for almost twenty years now.

Re: the bidding war itself, I suggested to a friend of mine that Miramax should hold a short film contest, 30 minutes or under. Release each short film and let the fans vote on which is the best without releasing the studio, or independent name that made it. The winning video earns the rights to the franchise from Miramax.

That was never a part of the original film though he was always supernatural, just subtly done so that it was more relatable. That’s why the original was so good, you felt it could happen like a serial/spree killer, but it was heightened enough to also bring the fear of the unknown (which a good supernatural story always brings); like that feeling you can get where you feel something is watching you even if no one else is around, it’s still real, but there’s something beyond the norm there.
The likely reality is that a new studio would likely want to do a Michael Myers movie; or at least start off with one. I can’t imagine any studio would purchase the chance to Halloween content and start off away from the known name brand.
Personally, if we could reboot to simply forget ‘Ends’ then that’d be perfect for me. However, if we are to go down different avenues, Halloween could take a chance and establish a brand new killer, in a new setting.
I would also like a Halloween game, like Friday the 13th.
