Well last night was, simply put, a f***ing embarrassment. I will never ever be Leatherface for Halloween again. Last year I had a set up at my parents house, but this year I walked around with my girlfriend and best friend. The worst part about last night…was that the saw would not start hardly at all (with a new spark plus and a full tank of gas). I think I scared maybe 3 groups (there was pretty much one group of teenagers out that I scared probably 2 of the 3 times) in the pitiful 90 minutes or less that I was even out. Something else I couldn’t believe…the streets were pretty much deserted by 8:30. So with an unreliable chainsaw, my friend wanting to chit chat with everyone she knew, no groups of dumb teens, and hardly any scare time…this has been the worst Halloween yet. And I thought last yet was bad with the light drizzle every now and then. ![]()
On a lighter note, saturday was a better day, trick 'r treating in my girlfriend’s state of NJ. The town adjacent to her’s had Halloween on that day (lame, but at least I got two days of it) and I walked around in my own little concoction of a clown costume (that I’ll post pics of later). Their Halloween was from 3 until 8 and we were out from about 5 to 8 so we got a lot in. It was very fun. I think next year I’ll move my talents and effort to NJ.
Because of last nights events and a decision I made, even before last night, I’m taking down all Halloween items in my apartment and even in my room on Tuesday and packing them away until next year. Having all things Halloween on display year round has honestly killed my “Halloween spirit”. So next year maybe it’ll actually feel like Halloween again when I put out all the banners and wall hangings and pumpkins. Only my masks and posters will remain on display.
