Within the last 7-8 years we have seen a lot of impressive myers masks come through this community, one great mask after another. Sometimes a mask will look better one way than another mask does in a certain way. It pretty much seems like the GOAL of the myers collecting community was to achieve the 1975 captain kirk look within a replica for a myers conversion…
Now with Niks 2k/75K, MCS HMK, Sams 75, and Justins new kirk , have we finally REACHED that almighty pinnacle that we have been waiting for? I mean, is there really any more we can do? Honestly? I am starting to think that there is not that much more to achieve to in 2010 as there was in 2005…
I am trying to word this the best i can. Maybe someone can word it better than i can…
It does appear we are at that ledge but you know as well as me that with each new unveiling comes the urge to splurge. It’s going to come down to picking these things apart with a magnifying glass in a few years but I still see no end in sight.
i agree jimi, ive not been around that long but thats past tense. as you said as of this past year, i dont see how 75 kirk/H1 myers replicas can get much better than what they are at this point. i mean we have a couple that are spot on already, you cant get leaps and bounds better than “edge of perfection” as chad said. im not so sure there is any room to improve on at this point.
ive found with most things in life if you try to achieve exact perfection you will normally find that you have moved too far to the opposite direction, then find your self regressing back the way you came where you were closer to your goal.
in short, in this world we live in even perfection runs on a curve. and due to the curve i think we are as close as we will get to seeing ‘the perfect 75 krik replica’.
No Kirk replica will ever be “perfect”. I don’t even think people would be satisfied with a Kirk out of an original mold to tell you the truth, we will never find a perfect Myers. But we are very, very close.
As far as the H1 mask goes, there are many good replicas that come close now…but I still have yet to see the one that looks dead on and I must have it. So I imagine people will continue to try and match that lightning in a bottle and I’m having fun in the meantime.
I can only speak for myself but I am completely satisfied with my masks.
I have still yet to see anything strike me that has come out with exception to Niks 2k.
If I didn’t have kids, i would have snagged that mask. Not saying that the others that have come out aren’t any good, they just don’t strike me like the way my current pieces do… I will still buy various masks to collect, but I haven’t had that “Oh, I HAVE to snag that one!!” since AHG did up my first H-78…

I’d say yes we’ve reached the pinnacle now. There’s nothing else left to acheive. Now all we need are the damn prices to come down. The masks that recently came out are top notch replicas. But the prices are outrageous. If the mask makers can kick out as many of these as they like why not make them reasonable to purchase? They’ll make more money in the long run. F@#k the rich!
I think we’ll always have new masks coming out that look bang on or pretty close. The artists that we have making these masks are extremely talented, so when they do something new it is going to scream hero…or Kirk Hero.
I do believe that many of us have that one mask (or multiple) that really does it for us, while others are still on their search. I for one have my hero on the way, but seeing these new ones does still excite me, and because of that I’ll continue to buy.
As far as a Kirk mask, yea there’s a few out that look pretty spot on to me but i’m not a trekkie…always preferred Star Wars myself
I still have not found the perfect H1 for me yet. I want a mask that i can take out of the box and put on a stand and it looks like Nick Castle’s head is inside of it…you know , how it looked in the movie. I thought Justin was going to do a “Castle” style mask, maybe he still is ? IDK, i’ve waited 30 years or whatever, guess i’ll keep waiting
