Hey everyone its my first ever post on this forum, and I wanted to share with yall my project to get some help!
So I first painted my mask (tots boogeyman)
with some paint that isn’t adapted, wich caused the paint to crack so I removed all the paint even the stock paint (soaked the mask in water overnight). But some chunk of it are still attached to it. If i paint over it with an airbrush will it hide these things? What should i do for a good result? Any advices could help! thanks in advance!

It might hide it but will take more layers to cover , like when you sand and paint wood. (im just surmising… ) just get a dremel and some felt heads , use lowest speed and let the dremel do the the work (dont push hard into the mask) and the remaining paint will come off . Come back when that step is done and I’ll guide you. Eyes need work too, but don’t worry about that quite yet.

Well if you are OK with the eyes than ya cuz after you paint you don’t want to be doing any cutting on the mask unless you want to go over the eyes a second time. ,use some rubbing alcohol b4 painting to clean up the mask and help adhesion. You need to get like light brownish kinda skin tone colour for your first coat (base) .don’t go heavy over anything it’s just like spray painting

Alright thanks man i’ll do it and send you the progress, by the way for the paint i need to mix 50/50 liquid latex and acrylic paint right?

Ya but you will need to thin it out with water or you’ll clog your machine . There are special paints for airbrushing that are premixed fyi.

You’re alright bud. Fresh latex is easier to get off. And ive messed up plenty of times . Just sux starting over.
Start by trying to peel of the latex and see if you can get some big pieces to come off. See what you can do and show me after. There’s a couple ways to get back.to the blank stage . Dont fret. Next time don’t go so heavy with the paint, and come ask for help or advice b4 you try some stuff. I mean it’s not terrible but ya I can see the raised texture. Did you do a base ? I mean you could even try dremeling some of the texture with a felt bit at low speed worth a shot. Don’t dig into the latex with the dremel just glide it over.

Thanks you so much for your advices and your fast replies man!
I did a coat with skin tone color at first but i think its this coat causing the texture cause i put alot at certaines areas and the paint just dried this way. I’ll try to get rid of some things with the dremel and send you how its going i’ll be careful next time I need to get it done before the 30 so I’ll remove it all tonight or tomorrow if I can.

Ah OK well try dremeling first you might be able to save what you got or at least get it minimized , you re gunna do a wash so it will dirty it up some anyway. Least get something for Halloween we an always go back and add more finicky details later.
Think your base wasnt the problem , just toomuch paint n the sponge in general
And you re welcome.

So i just tried to dremel of some pieces of the area that weren’t smooth at all but it turned out a good piece of it got off and i remove the paint in the area as a whole

Yup you can try peeling with your fingers as ypu go along as well might get lucky with big pieces. Shouldn’t be too bad with the dremel.
Just don’t dig into the actual mask latex. Good luck.

Yo man I almost finished to remove the paint from the mask, I’ll start the painting tonight, do you have any tips for painting with sponges or painting in general heres what I can use

With both drybrushing and sponges you want very little paint, so get a paper towel, dip whatever you are using in paint, then unload some of it on the towel b4 you hit the mask. Best of do light layers and let them dry between coats. If you are using a brush dip it in some detergent first pinch the bristles to get the excess off them b4 you start painting. You’ll have to do this everytime you start to get dry latex balls but you’ll be able to paint for longer b4 this happens with the detergent. Latex can build up easy and ruin brushes so pay attention. With both methods you want to blend the paint so make sure you are moving into different areas not just building up one area. Light even coats all the way through.

Im doing pretty good
man!
Shit that’s not bad at all dude!!! Great work!
Lips are pretty spot on. Definitely huge improvement with paint layers. I see you had some latex ball bs, they can be dremeled. But Ya style that hair and it will look even better .
And no problem dude , happy to help , glad things turned out better for you.

Has it been sealed yet? If not you could still go in and dremel those pesky latex boogers very lightly with a felt head at slow speed. Then touch up with white if need be.
Need plastidip to seal the paint and protect it, do 2-3 light layers let each layer dry half hour . Use a shower cap to protect the hair when you do this.
