Hello everyone, I was hoping I could get some tips on how to convert a TOTS Kirk mask into an H1. I do not own an air brush so any pointers on how to paint it are much appreciated. I have an eye for detail and I really wanna get this bad boy as accurate as possible
I would invest in an airbrush. If you just had a Myers mask and wanted to do some weathering that would be one thing, but converting a Kirk is a whole different animal. Hobby Lobby has them and even an inexpensive one (use the 40% coupon) will make a huge difference in how the mask turns out. But trust me if you try to brush paint on or use a spray paint you won’t be happy with the end result. You have to use a latex based paint so it’ll stick to the mask. You can get specialty paint from online FX houses. Don’t use regular white paint
You can spray paint the mask with Plasti-Dip. It’s flexible enough no to crack on latex, and since the mask is already flesh toned, you have a good base color. Just mist on layers of white from above, and make sure to mask off the hair.
thanks everyone, I just found a cheap airbrush at harbor freight so I’m gonna give it a try, see how it works out, and I will be purchasing monstermakers paint as well, I’ll be posting pics of my progress
