Hey all, im currently working on a project putting together a lifesize H1 Myers, and I recently picked up a pair of the Vietnam boots. I don’t plan on wearing them much, if ever, but just in case I wanted to get a pair as close as possible to my size. I wear a 9 1/2 sneaker, and the closest I found was a 9 extra narrow, and I kinda just snap-purchased them.
No surprise that they are…VERY tight-fitting, but, I was able to stretch them enough to where they are wearable for short periods. However, they look extremely narrow visually, and I’m worried that once on a life-size mannequin they will look cartoonishly slim in comparison.
Before I go scouring the web for a normal size I was wondering if any of you fine people happen to own a regular fitting pair and would perhaps show me a picture or two. Wondering if the boot is just narrow in nature in all fits, or, if it has to do with the fact that they are extra narrow. Im assuming the latter, but just in case I thought id ask. Thanks in advance!
This isn’t exactly what you asked for, however I think it can be useful.
This is my 11N Myers boot next to my 11.5R composite toe work boot. My work boots are built for tough work with thick leather, heavy sole, and as I mentioned a reinforced toe (which adds even more bulk to the boot.
Comparatively, my 11N isn’t that much smaller than my heavy duty work boots. I don’t think the narrow Myers boots are that narrow, actually. I’m sure yours will look fine.
If you’re still worried about it, maybe there’s a way to soften the leather with some conditioner and wear them around for a while. Stretch them out even further?
Only way you can stretch them is by wearing them in hot water, I’ve done it, but if they are still too tight, you need a Wide or XW Extra Wide, thankfully this site sells reproductions that are damn spot on and high quality https://www.mooremilitaria.com/jungle-boot-v.html
this is actually a great comparison, thank you! side by side they don’t look that narrow. For some reason, maybe it’s because of my top-down perspective, they just look super slim.
I was initially disappointed when I had to settle for an 11N (as I wear 11.5R) but I was pleasantly surprised when they arrived. They fit my foot really well and look just fine in my opinion.
edit: I forgot to mention, you’re probably used to seeing a wider shoe when you look down (assuming you have a slightly wider foot) making the narrower boot seem odd and awkward, but to the rest of us the boot looks normal.
Yea as I said I’m not super concerned with how they fit me, more so how they look of the mannequin. I’m going for a super realistic look for it, and I’m a maniac when it comes to tiny details so I wanted to avoid driving myself crazy in advance haha. But as for me, I don’t actually know if I have a wider foot or not, I never really took proper measurements. I wear skateboarding Nikes which generally fit a little snug anyway, but I do wear a half size bigger for my actual comfort, so who knows. Im gonna try breaking these in a bit to see if I can visually stretch them out a tad,
