Well I got that braid of crepe hair we were both looking at, it’s very good quality, it’s a little smaller than I expected but it looks like enough to mix in with Camel wool. Heres some pics
With AllCoopedUp you need to set the quantity to 3 or 4 and that will be enough to hair a mask
What do they sell it by/how much?
You can get 4 for around $25
Oh sweet! I’ll have to think about what to get. The mohair I have is a sort of umber dark brown, a bit rich
I used the exact same crepe and ordered 3 ft. It was exactly enough to do my Ends. I would order 4 so you have a bit extra just in case.
I was wrong about the crepe hair braid. There is so much more then I thought, it just looked smaller because it was wound up. It looks great, right color and everything
Update- well, here’s the base white sealed! The details are a bit more subtle, similar to the poster mask from the photos I’ve seen, but I can go over them. Next I’ll do a creamy off-white pass as seen on Castle’s mask and then do the fine details before weathering.
Looking good so far man, that sculpt is excellent. You have a lot of nice detail to work with
Thanks man! It’s nice to finally get work done on a mask that I know how to do, so I can’t wait to keep moving forward. I saw that crepe you shared, but I’m gonna keep looking around for something darker
Okie dokie man, can’t wait to see the finished mask
Dark brown definitely looks the color, I think that could work out
I think you’re right. I used the dark brown and gray mix on my Ends, but had to dye it a little when I got it since it was a tiny bit more gray than I wanted.
Damn I should’ve bought mine in that second shade of brown, oh well I’ll make it work
Imo a little dark for H40. I used that color on a Resurrection and it was perfect for that but the H40 hair is of course lighter than Resurrection. A blend of dark brown and medium would be best probably
Update- I am yet again removing the paint lol. It’s just too light to work with and to make look old. Plus, as I build the layers, there’s a weird sort of a scaly texture that takes place which is extremely prone to flaking. Does anyone have any advice on technique?
I also think it could be the latex. The stuff I have isn’t specifically made for masks and more prosthetics. Could this also be an issue?
That might be the issue. I used to mix my own paint but switched to nightshades and it’s made things so much easier.
I would be willing to buy nightshades but all the paints I need are always out of stock! Plus they’re kinda expensive for something that mixed paint does well too.
