I just had this theory in regard to the paint changing colour over time, since Nick Castle had owned the hero after the first film and just had it hanging like a hunting trophy, then after Debra got it back for H2, the mask had yellowed slightly, during that time, the weather and humidity would have made the white and flesh coloured paints blend together, has this been tossed around? cause it’s the only way I could see the yellowing happen, since the original paint wasn’t stripped and white was misted over, as well as a lot of change of hands and all the sweat
The TLW paint would just fall right off…I believe the Don Post story that it was touched up by them using a rubber cement paint. And since that will chemically adhere to the mask it explains away A LOT!!! Case closed for me.
Or it’s as simple as cigarette smoke causing the yellowing of the finish…
That’s been proven false
Smoke rises, next
The fireplace caused the yellowing

Just reminds me that DW “kept” NC’s mask.
That’s what I posted, the heat can soften the paints on the mask and it blends together with the original Kirk paint
As far as the cigarette smoke theory goes thankfully you guys have never had to gut out a friends diseased relatives house that was an inside smoker. This gentleman smoked and he smoked inside and while smoke does rise continuous cigarette smoke in a closed area might rise at first but has no where to go and accumulates in every square foot of the room for instance under the gentleman’s bed he had quite a lot of stuff stashed and it was riddled yellow inside and out with tar from smoking inside. The cigarette smoke theory is definitely something you cannot rule out due to the fact smoke rises. In this sort of scenario as the mask sat in a smokers home it could definitely bring yellowing to the mask.
